Well, as long as it made some foreigners happy I guess that's all the justification we need. It also pleased some people in Iran too, so bonus bargain there.Funny people I met in Basra thought we needed to invade and they seemed pretty happy about it, but of course you know better...
I whole heartly agree with you. But I will say this, it isn't usually monsters who do monstrous things. Generally good people too often accept an authority, follow the rules as they understand them, and end up doing things they would have never considered monstrous. Sadly.

3 parts Coke, 1 part Bacardi Light. What's your solution?Indeed. If the prisoner will not willingly provide the false information you need, then you'll probably have to torture him to get it.You're right and torture shouldn't be the first option, however it shouldn't ruled out as an option, either. [...]
But would they all lead back to Fox News?and what you win the argument because you posted some links? Buddy this is the internet I could post a million links about why waterboarding is effective, [...]
That argument is weak and contradictory; all you have is a very loose quote from Panetta that was obtained after a bit of badgering (at which point I'm not confident he knew exactly what he was replying to, nor that he even had first-hand knowledge since the waterboarding took place years before his appointment as CIA director).[...] waterboarding helped us get bin Laden: This interrogation tactic was integral to extracting information years ago from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Faraj al-Libi that helped us find and kill bin Laden
when were you in Basra? I was there Aug '09 - June '10 and almost every Iraqi I met was damn glad we were there
2004 and then again in 2006, where abouts were you in Basra?
I was the logistics officer, so I spent a good deal of my time on COB inventorying and getting rid of all those connexes of crap you Brits left behind300+ 8'x8'x40 containers of all kinds of crap that had to be demilled and either turned in or destroyed.
Although I did have to make regular trips to the BaOC (basra operations center) and the PJCC (provential joint command center) downtown. I was also in charge of the closure of Camp Hutch in Shaiba
our compound on COB was across the street from the USO building/gym and just up the street from the main dining facility.
very nice! Yeh I was in the palace in 2004, got a little messy with the car bombs but then in 06 I was stationed in the airbase which was a lot less hard work except of course the odd mortar round. How was it after we left, did it settle down?
we only had a handful of IEDs but we still had the regular mortar/rocket attacks at least a couple of times a week. they hit the chow hall the night before we left for home.
funny how quickly you get used to the mortar rounds though isn't it, became part of our daily routine at what point.
So you're ok then when Americans are tortured by our enemies? In WWII, the Japanese were waterboarding American POWs. I guess you're ok with that since you find torture acceptable. And, when those protocols don't work, then what? Throw our hands up and say, "well, we tried!"? Are you ok with American soldiers possibly dieing, because someone was too limp-wristed to rough up a prisoner? I'm not ok with it at all.
Funny people I met in Basra thought we needed to invade and they seemed pretty happy about it, but of course you know better...
If you're not being waterboarded, don't worry about it. If you are you are probably a terrorist that wants to kill Americans. If it works to get vital info, great...no one dies from it.
People do die from it:
During my 21 years on AD, at least 3 SERE trainees that I personally know of, including one in my class, DIED from waterboarding. This was in a TRAINING environment with EXTENSIVE safety protocols in place. Yet they DIED.
Oh, and that is a "military reenactment".
Also, a man was locked in Guantanamo bay for 6 years and he was completely innocent. He got water boarded weekly for all six years... (I'll dig up the story if you make me. I heard it on the radio though...)
Ooh Ooh, find the one about the guy trying to kill himself by banging his head on his cell wall due to the brutality of his torture regime, damaging his skull!
Or the one who tried to kill himself and wrote "I killed myself due to the brutality of my oppressors." on the wall in his own bloooood!
Either you are being sarcastic, misreading what I wrote, or have no clue what you are talking about.
Oh, you didn't read those? Try finding those...
turn this thread into a muther****ing freedom fiesta.
already did it...and for longer than 10 minutes. I still don't think it's torture
You have to be a real jerk to miss the teasing. Of course some liberals have a stick up their ass.Not exactly what I said, but I think you know that. Is this another dishonest attempt to sidestep the point?
:coffeepap
Obama banned waterboarding. It was one of the first things he did as President. However, that did stop his inhuman and unconstitutional treatment of Bradley Manning.
Anyways, this is "Breaking News" since Bachmann is attacking Obama for banning waterboarding. Obama didn't just come out and say this.
Bachmann: Waterboarding is justified, like nuking Japan | The Raw Story
I guess that makes that Sheriff down in Arizona who runs the funny prison, a real liberal, then. You have to be a real jerk to miss the teasing. Of course some liberals have a stick up their ass.
There is rendition, and then there is extreme rendition....I understand the Obama administration is continuing the policy of rendition. If this is true, I regret deeply that I ever voted for the man.
