Wall Street Democratic donors may back Trump if Warren is nominated

Democratic donors on Wall Street and in big business are preparing to sit out the presidential campaign fundraising cycle — or even back President Donald Trump — if Sen. Elizabeth Warren wins the party’s nomination.

In recent weeks, CNBC spoke to several high-dollar Democratic donors and fundraisers in the business community and found that this opinion was becoming widely shared as Warren, an outspoken critic of big banks and corporations, gains momentum against Joe Biden in the 2020 race.

You’re in a box because you’re a Democrat and you’re thinking, ‘I want to help the party, but she’s going to hurt me, so I’m going to help President Trump,’” said a senior private equity executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity in fear of retribution by party leaders. The executive said this Wednesday, a day after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would begin a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump.

During the campaign, Warren has put out multiple plans intended to curb the influence of Wall Street, including a wealth tax. In July, she released a proposal that would make private equity firms responsible for debts and pension obligations of companies they buy. Trump, meanwhile, has given wealthy business leaders a helping hand with a major corporate tax cut and by eliminating regulations.

Hmm looks like Warren might be in trouble with major donors jumping ship. That could really hurt her.

Hard to donate to someone who hates your guts. [or at least pretends to for votes]

Re: Wall Street Democratic donors warn the party: We’ll sit out, or back Trump, if you nominate El

All the more reason to vote for Warren.

Politics is always about money. Demonizing the wealthy, by Warren and Sanders, both millionaires, spells a 4 letter word for the democratic party, D-O-O-M.

When the orgasmic after glow fades from this week's scandal of the week, it will never survive the senate, the wealthy will walk away from candidates who hate them. They will support those who preserve and enhance their wealth.

The Gates Foundation can still not spend the earnings from the initial capitalization. That capital protected from the thieving hands of politicians. The Mellon Trust more than a thousand times larger after generations passing, than when it was established.

All you need now is to replace the money from the major donors and you will be all set.

Precisely why I support campaign finance reform.

The money in politics is nothing more than legal corruption.

The reason we have PACs is because of campaign finance reform. Nothing worse than a reformed alcoholic. Money is much more addictive.

Amazing.

They pretend to care about America, the constitution, yadda yadda. But it's cause for celebration when big donors make clear they give no ****s about anything but getting more money and will vote for whomever is most likely to give them even more of it.

This is essentially a plutocracy of swine and has been for quite some time.

We'll see what happens, most of rhetoric against corporations and wall street are done with a wink and a nudge. Actually, Democrats aren't the pauper party anymore.

2018 Democrats running for the house raised and spent 1.02 billion to the GOP's 661 million
2018 Democrats running for the senate raised and spent 599 million to the GOP's 456 million
2016 Clinton raised and spent 1.191 billion to Trump's 646.8 million

Who knows how the money race for 2020 will turn out.

Warren's a total phony.

She just needs to reassure the boys in the Democrat Party back room that she's as mega-sleazy as they are & she'll be fine.

But she can't beat Trump.

This! Sheis too far left to turn out the vote for a lot of the Democrat party.

Re: Wall Street Democratic donors warn the party: We’ll sit out, or back Trump, if you nominate El

Hang on. Are we saying that a whole bunch of rich people who get richer every day because of the way the US laws are laid out, are not going to vote for a person who wants to level the playing field and make it fair for poorer people (like Trump voters)?

We will see. I can't imagine that many Wall Street types will be turned on to vote for her.

Re: Wall Street Democratic donors warn the party: We’ll sit out, or back Trump, if you nominate El

So Wall Street essentially threatens to hold America's 401k's ransom in order to get the President they want. All they've done is solidify in my mind that they don't have America's best interests at heart.

Re: Wall Street Democratic donors warn the party: We’ll sit out, or back Trump, if you nominate El

Hey, remember when Republicans hated Hillary Clinton for being in the bag for Wall Street?

They are Democrats after all.

Remember when Wall Street hated Trump before the Dow hit all time records?

It is called self interest something that most democrats don't understand.
self interest is the biggest motivator that there is.

Warren is threatening their self interest. so they are doing what most rational people do and are either not going to support it
or they will vote against it.

Wall Street knows that a President Warren would mean the end of America.
