[W:672]McConnell calls Jan. 6 a 'violent insurrection,' breaking with RNC

Your opinion is noted.
It's not opinion, it's reality.

Trump wanted the election results overturned. So he spread a lie of a stolen election to fire up his base, who then conspired to interrupt Congress on 1/6 when it records the Electoral College results and officially recognizes the winner.

That's what happens, that's what Sedition Apologists will not admit to and will always deflect from and downplay.

Back at ya. I tried as nicely as I could to explain what happened. But you insist on taking reality and stomping all over it with your irrational delusions.

Have a nice day.
see ya around

Making excuses for sedition only encourages it.

I've made no excuses. I simply disagree that the riot on 1/6 was a planned insurrection. At any rate, it was a shit-stain on the country, and I make no excuses for those who broke the law. I make no excuses for Trump's poor loserdom.
I make no excuses so you can stop lying about me now.

You can disagree all you want, it doesn't change reality. Making excuses for sedition only encourages it.

The merits means applying the law to the facts in evidence. That does not happen in an impeachment trial.

I never said there’d be criminal prosecution. I said the impeachment trial has no bearing on actual guilt.
Actually the proper context is the Federal Code. One does not have to commit a Federal Code offense to be impeached.

"High crimes and misdemeanors" is the impeachment language of the Constitution. It means Crimes of High Office which is why by the way Clinton's Impeachment was pure bullshit. Boinking the intern and committing perjury (lying about it in a deposition or other court procedure) is not a Crime of High Office. It did not have anything to do with the High Office of the Chief Executive. The GOP House just decided to lop the word "High" off the front end of High Crimes and Misdemeanors and impeached Clinton for Crimes and Misdemeanors.

No need to repeat yourself.

I disagree with you. Nobody has made excuses. You just don't accept that others don't see it your way and quite frankly, that's not my problem that you keep lying.

One would think that trying to get your VP to overturn the election results would count as High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

It's not lying, I know some are politically motivated to excuse the sedition, but it doesn't change reality and excusing sedition only encourages it. Just a fact. Sorry if you don't like it.

Theres nobody these people wont step on in order to keep power.

So the insurrection and coup effort was okay because everybody does it? Is that your argument?
Yes its the old faux playbook of muddying the waters to avoid scrutiny. Its why they always whatabout when cornered.

It's not a matter of what I like. You won't call me something that I am not without being challenged. I'm calling you out on your dishonesty and I am not sorry at all.

I'm on record in this thread as to how I see 1/6. You are arguing semantics and I find that unproductive. I call it a riot, you call it sedition. We won't agree.

Have a lovely day... :)

Uh oh. “We all were here. We saw what happened. It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election, from one administration to the next. That’s what it was,” McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters at his weekly news conference."
It's more likely that McConnell is upset because someone has wrested power from him and not any great concern about the peaceful transfer of power, democracy, representative government or the needs of the people. Had he been the least concerned about any of those issues he could have acted on them long ago. He never did.

Even Fox News is beginning to splinter. Here's a comment from Brian Kilmeade from Monday night (radio show).
Faux news keeps a very tight rope around their commentary as former Faux contributors will tell you.

McConnell has decided to run with the RINOS.

One possibly theory--and I'm just throwing this out there--is that Trump supporters are simply full of shit, because they lack integrity.

Because of that, we get this squishy, emasculated version of trolling from them, in which they will gleefully contradict themselves if it means that they get to troll you for a little bit longer.

How does this theory not sum them up?
Perfectly. You can call it Yakshi’s law.

No, it's that you don't want to be called out for your excusing sedition. That's it. You want to downplay the events of 1/6 instead of accept it for what it is. That's reality, and you may not like it, but your feelings won't change it.

So what?

By next week he will walk it all back just like the rest of the 2-faced GOP politicians in Washington do.

Man, they are so afraid of the *****-grabber. They know the only way to keep their job and power is to appease the delirious Trump cultists who have taken over the GOP. So afraid he will label them, "small hands" or Lyin' <fill in the blanks.> Only two of them seem to even have a hair on their ass. The others are blithering cowards afraid to stand up for what's right.

You're both talking about the same event. In your mind it was sedition, while in her's and mine we call the event a riot. You're just trying to make a semantic argument and losing at it.
