Oberlin College & Gibson’s Food Market -- Blueprint for Fighting Progressive Shame Mobs | National Review

Responding in the New York Times, renowned First Amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams said the jury’s verdict was a threat to free speech, arguing that “the notion that uninhibited student speech can lead to vast financial liability for the universities at which it occurs threatens both the viability of educational institutions and ultimately the free speech of their students.” But this is a mischaracterization of the case. University officials helped spread false claims. University officialstook punitive actions against the bakery.
Not a big David French fan, but this is a great article and highlights why the Oberlin verdict is such a big win for society.

"Fighting back" against whom?

Fraudulent claims are quickly dealt with. Justice served. There's no issue.

Read the article, get your questions answered, allow yourself to make posts that aren't.. so silly.

This is a debate website not your facebook page. I expect you to make your argument, not to hide your BS behind a citation.

You can't "black people are evil" and then "read the article".

Thread title, "Oberlin example of fighting back!" then OP, "huge win for society".

Let's not pretend this is about progressives. This is about racism.

lawyers are like schools of Piranha.... traveling where the money is.....

I posted the article because I felt it was a good read, and had hoped to engage people to furthering their understanding of the issue, but since that seems to have upset you so badly...

Basically Oberlin College committed atrocious acts and near destroyed a business that's been around for a very long time with lies, mob SJW bull**** and the bakery managed to take them to court and get a significant judgement against them. Rightly so. This is a great, as the article show, blueprint for fighting back against such behavior.

PS I didnt' mention, nor anywhere in the article are black called, "evil". A college ****ed up and now is having to pay for it.

Seems it’s actually about a lack of racism and people who wish there was racism

No, no. Please. Do tell of my victimization by black people and Jews. I can't wait to hear it.

I haven't watched TV in decades. Projection.

I have to think that illiberals get something out of protecting minorities who break the law or rules. Is it something to assuage their guilt for being white, like salve in a self-inflicted wound? It must give them a sense of "goodness" and purpose, to think of themselves as SJWs and crusaders of intersectional righteousness, making up for crimes they never committed but have been told they must atone for.

and don't read an articles....you've really gone dark. oh well have a great day

I've "gone dark" because I recognize garbage presented as race war. Sure.

Yes, fight back against unjust actions taken by dishonest people.

That just happens to always be black people and Jews. You guys did get to the "Jew media" part, right?

Yes! We need to face the truth and go back to looking for Obama's secret Kenyan birth certificate and looking for those Muslims celebrating on NJ rooftops after 9/11. The truth will come out!:lamo

good luck...don't see what that's got to do with Oberlin verdict.

Uhm, no one here cares about race but you hoss. A family business was near destroyed because they had the audacity to stop a shoplifter and his cohorts, who instead of being called out by the college, were treated as victims. Even though they were all convicted of, and plead guilty to, committing crimes against the business. The college, instead of standing for law and order, chose instead to lie, castigate, and work to destroy this business.

You really wanna die on that hill, be my guest. I'm standing for a family business that was wrongly accused of malfeasance, you're on the side of convicted admitted criminals, liars and the morally corrupt.

hard to engage anyone that won't read or admits to NOT watching news

I didn't start this racist thread.

If you're looking for victims, you could find plenty. But's always the ebil black people. Oh, and their cohorts in race war, the "media".

Pretend your target is progressives. Pretend you stand against injustice. It's a pathetic veil.

Eco hasn't gotten the memo that his call anyone that dares raise a concern against a minority is racist schtick is dying it's much needed death. He's been on that for years.

Back to the OP, it appears the college managed to **** on the jurors, publically, and this is before the punitive damages are awarded. Not real bright these folks...
Oberlin College mass email criticizing Jurors could influence Punitive Damages Hearing in Gibson's Bakery case

Don’t accuse the jurors of disregarding the “clear evidence,” don’t repeat the same failed claim that the college administrators were simply keeping the peace and protecting free speech when numerous witnesses testified otherwise, and don’t claim the college was held liable vicariously when in fact the college’s own conduct was at issue.

The post-verdict email could be Exhibit A at the punitive damages hearing as to why the compensatory damages are not sufficient to send a message to Oberlin College and its administrators. Whether it will be an exhibit we’ll find out on Tuesday.
