I know he was a gentleman because he did not punch the rude lowlife thug woman in the face as soon as she opened her foul abusive mouth. He was a gentleman because he only suggested that she ought to treat people with more respect. Which most CIVILIZED adults who are acting badly would heed; a gentle bit of wise advice from a much older person is usually enough for the person acting badly to acknowledge their error and apologize. But not with angry ghetto thug woman, for her it was an invitation to murder an old man (who happened to be White) for daring to point out her rude abusive ghetto behavior.
