It’s more than an isolated occurrence. The problem extends to multiple studies and thousands of citations used to build new hypotheses. Many of which become the foundation of new studies and subsequent federal grants.So the established internal policing system works. The Professor fudged her data and was found out and fired. Just in, water is wet.
Many so-called proven theories in the social sciences are built on (a) house(s) of cards.
I think the applications for grants for social science studies must have more rigorous challenge than what is currently being done. I mean, we are debating a study on honesty for crying out loud. To what end? What is the tangible benefit even if it was properly conducted?
