"WASHINGTON—When President Biden met with congressional leaders in the West Wing in January to negotiate a Ukraine funding deal, he spoke so softly at times that some participants struggled to hear him, according to five people familiar with the meeting. He read from notes to make obvious points, paused for extended periods and sometimes closed his eyes for so long that some in the room wondered whether he had tuned out.
.....
This article is based on interviews with more than 45 people over several months. The interviews were with Republicans and Democrats who either participated in meetings with Biden or were briefed on them contemporaneously, including administration officials and other Democrats who found no fault in the president’s handling of the meetings. Most of those who said Biden performed poorly were Republicans, but some Democrats said that he showed his age in several of the exchanges.

The White House kept close tabs on some of The Wall Street Journal’s interviews with Democratic lawmakers. After the offices of several Democrats shared with the White House either a recording of an interview or details about what was asked, some of those lawmakers spoke to the Journal a second time and once again emphasized Biden’s strengths.

“They just, you know, said that I should give you a call back,” said Rep. Gregory Meeks, a New York Democrat, referring to the White House.
....
Former President Donald Trump, who at 77 is 3½ years younger than Biden, also has faced questions about his mental acuity. Indeed, both candidates have been captured repeatedly on camera slipping up on facts or otherwise botching their public remarks, providing a steady stream of fodder for both Democrats and Republicans to attack the mental capacity of the opposing candidate.
...."

I see this topic becoming a bigger issue swaying votes than Trump's criminal convictions. Shockingly, at least in the post-Trump conviction polling so far, "Which candidate demonstrates less cognitive impairment?" appears to be more likely to change people's votes than, "Which candidate demonstrates less criminality?"

It's going to be the most bizarre election in history, I think.

Donald Trump, while far stupider in general than Biden, also appears to be far more coherent and more likely to last another 4 years in office. In fact, it looks like there's almost no chance Biden would make it through.

So it basically comes down to the 2024 election being one between Trump and Harris, more so than Trump and Biden.

The article just cites a bunch of Republican MAGA slaves. Of course they're going to say Biden is bad.

That said, their veracity does not matter as long as Trump is the candidate. Like every other point of comparison, his mental acuity is demonstrably worse. Constant ALLCAPS freakouts on his Twitter ripoff. Ever more garbled word salads at rallies.

And then there's the whole "I'll be a dictator for a day and have a plan to turn the entire executive branch into my personal weapon" thing. And then there's...and and and and...

My understanding is that the cannibals haven’t fully recovered from digestive issues from consuming Uncle Bosey, so Joe is likely safe for the time being. Who wouldn’t stutter a little upon discovering you’re on the menu? That’s all it is. Joe’s fine, and he’s the only guy who can get Xi to withdraw from Ukraine.

If I have to choose between two declining old white men, I will choose the one who is not a convicted felon.

I mean, it's pretty much the Geriatric Election Part Deux. The majority of America wants neither.

How exactly is this breaking news? People have been saying for years that Joe is too old. It’s an article with a bunch of opinion quotes.

I've had the same curiosity about people voting for Biden....as in, are they simultaneously considering it a vote for Harris? I can't imagine one would vote for Biden without wondering about what would happen if he cannot make it for 4 more years.

Was Biden crapping in his diaper, stinking up the room? Like the cult god Trump has done..

Be careful what you ask. With either of them at this age, anything is possible. They might even reach into their diapers and play with it....

I'd be delighted to vote for Kamala Harris as well. No issue there at all.

Yes, if you look at my OP, I highlighted that entire quote about Trump too.

It's remarkable how the will of the people is to want neither, yet the major parties/corporate media are able to shove them down everyone's throats anyway. I blame the complicit nature of voters to vote along party lines instead of coming together and rejecting candidates outright.

I'm not a Kamala fan, so she wouldn't persuade my vote, but I appreciate you answering that curiosity for me. I haven't heard a lot of people talking about that consideration of voting for Biden.

Its been obvious for years that Senile Joe's brain is gone. This is old news.

Yeah, I don't think many people are denying it anymore, even among Democrats. Every Democrat I know acknowledges it on some level.

The DOJ needs to release the audio interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur/Joe Biden, and stop making excuses for reasons not to.

Speaking softly, referring to notes and listening with eyes closed isn't particularly strong evidence that he is slipping.
