[W:#389: 420, 790]Texas elementary school reports 'active shooter' on campus

They do? If the patient needs the meds, dont they get them?

And if you are saying that the 'regulations' are preventing that...then they, the regulations, are wrong IMO.

And with the right regulations, the people who need a gun will get it. It’s just going to be somewhat inconvenient for them.

The random 18 year old homicidal nutjob will have to tolerate delays, background checks, fill out extensive paperwork, etc. Not just walk into Walmart and buy an AR15 like a pack of gum.

Sales tax is not what you are talking about. Firearms are taxed at the same rate as any other commodity, which is perfectly fine. You are wanting to punitively tax an enumerated right, on top of the sales tax. You aren't permitted to do that. No state is, which is why no state does.

LMAO... Is there a constitutional requirement that taxes be applied "equally"...

How about we just repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arm Act and let manufacturers face juries?

There are proposals out there but you wouldn’t agree with them because of your politically motivated intentions. But whatever, it’s a discussion that won’t go anywhere
Weird that no one actually has typed any in the last 1500 posts here.

You are not permitted to punitively tax an enumerated right. Just like a poll tax. Sorry.

That would be moronic. They aren't liable for the criminal misuse of their product. Just like Craftsman isn't liable when someone smashes in the skull of a person using their hammer.

I do right now. What "attitude" are you referring to? I want sensible gun control legislation, personally. I just don't see anything the Democrats or the far Left (but I repeat myself) have proposed which is "sensible."

I am glad for the school my kids go to - they have security measures in place which are effective at keeping people and weapons out.
Don't kid yourself. I work at a school that had a shooting three years ago, we have lots of security measures. Every day I see ways that a determined shooter could game the system.

Lol the bermuda defense force

I've shown you the differences. But it's irrelevant.

Sometimes. But again, it's irrelevant.

So are you admitting you are lying when you claim “no military” uses AR-15’s. Or are you going to move the goalposts now?

Almost all of the time. Not sometimes. And every veteran on this site will back me up.

The differences you brought up are irrelevant. I agree with you. They don’t matter at all in practical reality.

LOL... Is recovering the cost of the damages of a product punitive?

That would be moronic. They aren't liable for the criminal misuse of their product. Just like Craftsman isn't liable when someone smashes in the skull of a person using their hammer.

Then they should have NO problem convincing a jury of their innocence.

They are not in any way enforceable.
Well then. I guess there’s…

🙄

What does it matter anyway? Nothing is going to change.

We all hate each other, millions of guns floating around, and we just play into the game to keep it up so we can vote for the one who is going to bring "change" or "strengthen 2A" and then watch them play their government games while getting the healthcare, opportunities, and security we are all denied while we shoot ourselves and repeat the cycle.
Bolded being the key.

You want to make effective change to the status quo?

CHANGE the bolded.

The big Lie was the biggest, so far.
Yep. A guy who barely was able to fill 15 crop circles with twenty-something girls clapping politely won the election.

Gotcha!

I'm not naive enough to think I could compete with things like social media or the NRA. The reality is nothing is going to change and only get worse.

Another elementary school shooting and the stubborn gun lovers still want to be stubborn and not give an inch. A ****ing millimeter. They won't budge. I am not saying to ban all guns so why can't they even try to compromise something??

Of course they mean well regulated militia, when they wrote well regulated militia. That's why they wrote it. It is entirely irrelevant to anything being discussed though.

I'm not sure I understand your post? We know the amendment says "well regulated militia". We also know that it is irrelevant to the right to own firearms.
Of course you do understand what I said, the 2nd Amendment confines ownership of guns to members of a well regulated Militia, if an originalist were to honestly interpret the law.
Don't count on it though.

do you guys ever wonder how many cops have left the profession after they arrive on a scene where little coffins are gonna be needed and some kids can't be visual identified? it's not like it's unusual. i mean, 22 kids are shot every day.

sorry. i'm skipping over the pics of the kids. just can't look at them right now.

Hungerford also. We can thank our government for having the guts to address the gun problem. Fortunately we don't have a wretchedly anachronistic Second Amendment for gun fetishists to whine about, hide behind and use as an excuse. I don't need a gun to feel 'free' in England, unlike many Americans.

Our freedom was won at the end of a gun barrel. But, unlike you, we have a plan for keeping ours, and it doesn’t include placing our faith in a government, or asking it for permission to remain free. In a world in which most of the population lives under totalitarian or authoritarian regimes, I’d rather have an insurance policy than not.

They don't budge because no matter how many times it gets said, it doesn't get heard.

Guns don't kill people.

Fox News is simply genius...

"Matthew McConaughey calls for action after deadly elementary school shooting in his Texas hometown
McConaughey was born in Uvalde, Texas, where his mother was a teacher at a school a mile away from Robb Elementary School"

The proposed Background Check legislation will not take away your guns.
The comment to which I was responding referred to "giving up guns" in order to "save lives."

All it took St. Ronny to ban open carry, was the sight of Black men with guns.
So gun control is racist.
