A group of 20 former military generals from the armed forces of France have written an open letter warning that France could descend into civil war if certain dangerous forces and trends were not kept in check.

Huh. Interesting. It would seem it is time for the Republic to undergo a second major épuration légale.

In review, The Sun is a classic trashy tabloid that features celebrity gossip, current events, and right-leaning news stories. There is significant use of loaded sensational headlines such as this: SPREADING LIES Trolls are claiming Meghan Markle’s pregnancy is ‘fake’ in outrageous conspiracy theory. Politically, the paper has endorsed conservatives since 2010. In general, the paper publishes sensationalized misleading stories with a right-wing bias.
A factual search reveals numerous failed fact checks.

Overall, we rate The Sun Right Biased based on story selection and political affiliation that favors the right. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to overly sensationalized headlines and numerous failed fact checks.

A more reputable source has corroborated the story to some degree. And if it is true that numerous generals are intimating that the French nation is undergoing peril from which only the military can draw it out of overriding the civilian government, then I think it is time to lay out the welcome mat and perhaps a few extra cots at Philippe Pétain's final residence on Île d'Yeu.

They’re basically saying “If you treat Muslims like human beings, then France will fall apart!”

It’s Islamophobia and xenophobia of the highest degree.

Where did they actually call for a coup? They warned that they see the country disintegrating and call for action but overall it seems pretty benign, other than the date chosen.

The most glaring sentence is On the other hand, if nothing is done, laxity will continue to spread inexorably in society, ultimately causing an explosion and the intervention of our active comrades in a perilous mission of protecting our civilizational values and safeguarding our compatriots on the national territory.

Good luck to Macron taking on the 1,000+ former military officials who have signed on to the open letter.

If I was Macron I'd focus on making sure no more teachers get their heads lopped off for daring to show students a cartoon.

If the French are not allowed to criticize the (so-called) prophet Muhammed openly and freely they will have lost everything they fought for in the revolution.

No to Blasphemy Laws!

What blasphemy laws are being proposed?

No, they’re saying that allowing Muslims to live in France is destroying French culture. Muslims should be perfectly welcome to be human beings in whatever craphole country they came from. You have no inherent right to live in any specific place on earth and it’s pretty apparent immigration is not helping France

What blasphemy laws are being proposed?
Virtually all of the west already has blasphemy laws. Tell a cross dresser they’re not really a woman in Canada and you will find out.

Yes, I understand how a proponent of absolute monarchy who hates freedom like you would believe that and agree with your authoritarian freedom-hating fellows who agree.

I guess, “Libertie, Egalitie, Fraternitie”, should be amended to say “But only if you are a white Christian”, correct?

That’s not “blasphemy”.
Yes it is.

The entire idea of transgenderism is a religious idea. It goes back to an ancient heresy called gnostic dualism. In any event it is a tenet of the leftist religion and in several countries it is illegal to oppose this idea. It is blasphemous to say men cannot become women.

I think those three values should be abolished and the Bourbons put back on the throne.

But certainly I would say that French people should be privileged over foreigners in France. Foreigners who have ideas alien to such should be deported and barred from ever coming back. Years of attempts have shown that there is no real assimilation occurring. The Nice truck attack and the Concert shootings would not have occurred if there were zero Muslims in France

Transgender people have literally nothing to do with Gnosticism and the concept that a person can be a gender other than the one they are born with predates Gnosticism by centuries, especially in Asian cultures.

Indeed. You hate freedom and want an unelected dictator to rule nations by decree, anyone protesting for freedom and democracy to be traitors and enemies of the state, and for religious conservatism to be enforced via the law.

The majority of Muslims in France were born there. They aren’t foreigners. And if France didn’t want Muslims in their country, maybe they shouldn’t have spent 200 years colonizing Muslim territories and forcing those people to fight in their wars.

It doesn’t exist in Asian countries. Most attempts to claim transgenderism was taken seriously in ancient societies are misunderstandings or outright modern inventions (like when Canadian Indians say they’re “two spirit” that was invented from whole cloth in 1990)

That is absolutely not what the Generals said at all.

The letter says that any religion is welcome but all the laws of France must apply everywhere in France.

I ask again, what blasphemy laws are being proposed?

Christians murder people in America by bombing abortion clinics. Should Christians be banned from living in America?

To be clear and for the record, you are claiming no Asian cultures had any concept of people living as the gender they were not born as, correct?

religion is always enforced by law. Like diversity and gender theory are religious ideas and enforced by law.
retroactively changing nationality law can be done. The Dominican Republic has done it for example.

The colonization argument is irrelevant. Your region being colonized is not a valid reason for you to be allowed to live in the Colonial power, in fact it’s a reason not to because it’s obvious by the number of youths who went to join ISIS that these people are not grateful and often disillusioned when allowed to live there.

The French colonization was necessary to stop Muslim piracy in the Mediterranean, to end the North African slave trade, and to bring modern rule. The Muslim nations colonized by France have only their selves to blame for it.
