Oy Vei! Another NFL 2023 thread?

Rodgers (once he finishes his "darkness retreat"), Carr and Jimmy G are the three big name QBs that are thought be moving this off season. Lamar Jackson might be joining them.

My predictions:
Rodgers to Raiders
Carr to Saints
Jimmy G to Jets
Lamar to Falcons

Thoughts?

Jimmy G might be the calm hand that can complement a good defense.
Carr to Saints or Buccaneers.
Rodgers to Raiders...if it doesn't work Rodgers and the Coach will be gone.

What about the Dolphins and Cardinals? Both teams are in flux.

Both teams have potential franchise QBs, who both have a significant injury history despite their young ages. The Cardinals also have a significant financial investment in Murray. I doubt either team moves on from their QBs this off-season.

Bucs and Saints are both interesting destinations for Carr. Both teams are significantly over the salary cap as well. In fact they are the 2 teams furthest over the cap. Both would have to do salary cap gymnastics to sign him.

I feel your pain.

Sincerely, A Cowboys fan
Brother, I feel you as a fellow Cowboys fan. The team is good enough to make the playoffs, which is a tease, but not good enough to go all the way.

The Jones's won't break it all down, since the team is close, so this is truly football purgatory.

Dallas, do they have a team?

They are good enough it just didn't happen this year. I know we live in the age of Tom Brady going 10 times and winning 7 that is beyond freakish. Right up to the end injuries will hurt you. Pollard going out was a bad break.

Bienemy to be Washington's OC. Now the question becomes who will be implementing his offense? Jimmy G? Derek Carr?

I say Carr goes to Atlanta. He's deeply religious and the post-career preacher I think he wants to be would fit well in Atlanta. New Orleans? Maybe.

Assuming he's ready to go, it looks like Brock Purdy will start in front of Lance. I'm not sure that is so bad, it will give Shanahan another swiss army knife player.

Bienemy runs a pass heavy offense. Rivera, as many defensive minded head coaches, wants to run as much as possible. Should be interesting what kind of offense they end up running.

As far as the QB goes, Rivera seems to like Howell, but if they run a pass heavy offense, that's taking a huge risk. Jimmy G should be in play here, IMO.

Rivera will need to trust Bienemy. Games aren't won with the run anymore. They definitely play a role, but it's really about spreading the ball with the pass and making defenders cover every inch of the field. Where Bienemy will earn his money is on getting good production on first downs and converting on 4th.

What about Derek Carr's arm vs Jimmy G?

Why would anyone want go to that train wreck.

Because there's about to be new ownership and even the bad owner occasionally makes good personnel hires.

Bienemy is trying to get a head coaching job. It wasn't working in KC where all the credit went to Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes. Plus he has skeletons in the closet. Guess he figures if he can revive Washington's offense, he'll get his opportunity.

I'm not so sure he can recover from that injury. Its an amazing story though. What does it say about QB's in the league when the last guy picked, the least desired football player, gets the starting job and wins most of his games? He still maybe a middle of the road QB on a really good team. Jimmy G isn't quite an elite QB but you can tell his teammates like him and that is plus. Ask Russel Wilson how much that means.

I don't think Rodgers is going anywhere, it's an extra $68 mil difference to cut/trade him this year vs a $16 mil savings next year.

The Packers are already over the cap, they would probably have to cut the entire team and play with all minimum salary players to make that work.

The Packers are in a situation that until recently only seemed possible in Madden franchise mode

Very valid points about the cap situation.

As long as Snyder is involved in that franchise they're a disaster
