[W:#23,579]Ukraine War Thread

>Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine to time with its "Victory Day" commemorations marking 80 years since the defeat of the Nazis and the end of World War II. "For this period, all hostilities are stopped," said the statement. "Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow suit. In the event of violations of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian side, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will give an adequate and effective response."<

Aww. Putin is worried that Ukraine drones will ruin his Victory Day parades. Kyiv should tell him to **** off. Putin has been attacking UKR cities every day during the 30 day truce Trump requested.

To wit.....

>Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely hoping to head off any possible Ukrainian attacks on May 9, when Russia typically hosts major celebrations, said Oleksandr Merezkho, the head of Ukraine's parliamentary foreign affairs committee and a member of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's party. It is a "purely propagandistic gesture," explained Merezkho.<

Putin only wants a truce when it is to HIS advantage. **** him.

And then we have this.....

>Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal for an immediate and full 30-day ceasefire is currently "impossible," the Kremlin said, according to Russian state media. Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that "without resolving all the nuances, this is impossible" in response to the proposed ceasefire, RIA reported.<

Fair enough. But no ceasefire during Russia's Victory Day celebrations either. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

>Republican Senator John Kennedy leveled harsh criticism at Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of failing to approach peace talks with seriousness in an interview with Fox News. "I think he thinks we're afraid of him," the Louisiana senator said of the Russian leader. "He has jacked around President Trump at every turn. He has disrespected our president."<

Senator John Kennedy (R/LA).... Master of the Obvious.

"Victory Day" would be a great time for cluster munitions over Red Square!

Large signing bonus or patriotism?
Signing bonus Ian ethnic minority areas with a large percentage of very low incomes

Zelensky's 2019 campaign emphasized fighting corruption and reducing the influence of oligarchs, not nationalizing the media.

I already gave you a link where he talked of nationalising Ukraine’s Media in 2019 at his marathon press conference. Instead of acknowledging that or defending against it, you ignore it and ask me unrelated questions? You fail again.

The real issue is

The issue is that you use gish-gallop as a defence around the points I made and not answering them. I will henceforth accept this as showing you can’t defend your position.

Asked and answered.

That’s your fourth dodge, I’ll take that as your inability to honestly answer a question or defend your position.

Your argument rests on a false analogy

No, it's a fairly simple question and you have failed 4 times to answer it.

How does 145% tariffs embolden China?

Another example of your failure to defend your position. Trump threatened Taiwan which is why they are spending billions building a factory in the USA. That is factually undeniable, you lose yet again.

I've acknowledged Putin's grasp of history and his regret over the collapse of Russia. What you forget is that Putin, like Russian leaders before him, wants Russia to be seen as a peer and a European power, not as a "lesser" Asian state.

And this is achieved by invading and threatening his neighbours?

Still, you make it sound as if England saved America from defeat in two world wars—and is now trying to “save America” again by prolonging this ill-advised proxy war with Russia.

You spelt “appeasement” wrong yet again.

How exactly do you call that “not losing”?

Russia initially captured far more than 20% by March 2022 and were driven back to where they are now - give or take a minor percentage or two. Do you deny this?

And how do you expect Ukraine to continue fighting without America footing the majority of the bill?

Trump has halted many of Joe Biden’s support packages and yet Ukraine is still giving Russia a bloody nose. Interesting that you fail to acknowledge that Europe has donated vast amounts to the cause.

Yes, and I've also seen reports that Ukraine also violated the ceasefire.

I didn’t think you were aware of the troop movements toward Zaporizhia and I was correct.

I'm calling this a day here with you. You cannot answer simple questions with any honesty and all you do is post large separate questions - your tactics are worthy of Duane Gish.

Do you have proof that he has "lotted millions"?
Zelenskyy has admitted that billions of our dollars never made it to Ukraine. There have also been numerous reports of Ukrainians looting our aid. For example, significant gaps in fortifications in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast—particularly between Velyka Novosilka and Kurakhove, and between Kurakhove and Pokrovsk—undermined Ukraine’s ability to hold the line. This, despite Ukraine claiming it had spent millions in U.S. aid to complete those defenses. The result? Russian troops advanced through the gaps, while American tax dollars likely advanced to offshore bank accounts. Given how notoriously corrupt Ukraine is, are we really supposed to believe that Zelenskyy is the proverbial whore with a heart of gold—too noble to skim from our blank checks, unlike his fellow countrymen?

Remember to prioritize those Cat Crackers, wherever your missiles/drones can reach them. They are the most expensive thing Ivan owns, and the hardest to replace.
I agree but if they can target the control house where the programmable controllers are that run every step of the operation that is great as well. Russia does not manufacture the equipment. Siemans, Bailey, Schneider, Honeywell, Allen-Bradley. Tough to replace that stuff. From what I have been told, Russian systems are two generations out of date, they have to shop for their stuff on the used market. Not much of it left anymore.
