Trump to send federal agents to Chicago, maybe other cities

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is planning to deploy federal agents to Chicago and possibly other Democrat-run cities as he continues to assert federal power and use the Department of Homeland Security in unprecedented, politicized ways.

DHS is slated to send about 150 Homeland Security Investigations agents to Chicago to help local law enforcement deal with a spike in crime, according to an official with direct knowledge of the plans who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official wasn’t authorized to speak publicly.

And when asked for an explanation:

A spokesman for Homeland Security said the department does not comment on “allegedly leaked operations.”

So asking for accountability isn't an option.

This is outright totalitarianism.

Where's all those 2nd Amendment people?

They are notably absent. Masks got them riled, using federal agencies to intimidate cities in an election year, they're okay with that.

Federal Security Agents grabbing people off the streets for protesting.

Mass Unemployment.

Riots.

Disease killing people up and down the country.

A totally incompetent President at the helm, still behaving like a buffoon and offering nothing helpful to any of it?

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t this EXACTLY what many Obama naysayers said would happen if Obama was elected/got a second term...

The very best part of all of this is seeing Trump ads where they warn you what a Biden presidency will look like...By showing you footage taken during Trump's presidency.

Chicago has lots of problems, but I'm not sure what authority the Federal government has beyond Federal property. I'm not sure how well their black bagging tactics will go on the South Side.

Saw this elsewhere:

Con-servatives: We need guns to protect us if the government ever becomes tyrannical

Government: *becomes tyrannical*

Con-servatives: Yay! Go Government! Arrest those anti-fascists with your secret police! Gass those peaceful protesters! I love you government!

You're upset gun owners aren't trying to overthrow the government based on an anonymous source?

So now supporting local law enforcement, enforcing federal law, protecting federal property and the employees who work there is outright totalitarianism!
Insane thinking from our left friends? Chicago is a city that is out of control.

CHICAGO (CBS) — An overnight curfew has now ended as Chicagoans wake up to a damaged and unrecognizable city following a chaotic night of violence and looting. Thousands of people marched through the Loop to protest in memory of George Floyd, who died while being arrested on Memorial Day in Minneapolis.

85 shot, 24 fatally, over Chicago’s most violent weekend of 2020

More than half of the weekend’s victims were shot on Sunday as the city reeled from violent protests Saturday night that led to hundreds of arrests and the implementation of a curfew.
Protesters could be seen setting cars on fire, breaking into stores and looting. A lot of the violence happened on State Street and Michigan Avenue but also took place throughout the city.

Amid looting and protests in Chicago, police made nearly 700 arrests. Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said 699 people were arrested Sunday, primarily for looting. Superintendent Brown also said 132 Chicago police officers were injured.

I'm rather fascinated that people are more concerned about cops enforcing the law than they are about criminals that are breaking the law and acting in violence. Why should violent behavior be tolerated?

700 arrested, sound like the Chicago PD needs no illegal assistance...

These are not cops!
They have no jurisdiction, or authority, they are the equivalent of hitlers SS...

You’re asking why the constitution matters

So what you're saying is you know absolutely nothing about the SS.

Where's all those 2nd Amendment people?

They may be waiting for them in Chicago, meaning things good go south really quick. But then again it is what trump wants.

anyone surprised? there is an election in 4 months and Trump has to win or he faces massive legal trouble.

maybe we can hold back some of the federal officers in case he and his family need to be arrested in January.

Why is it, so often when the issue of police force comes up.

That “Constitutionalists” and “Small Government” Conservatives seem to think it’s unreasonable for Security Agents of the State to be held to a higher standard than, gangbangers as an example?

Why does that concept seem to be an unreasonable issue to raise?

EXCEPT of course, if it involves a person who committed crimes who’s a good ole buddy of Trumps, so it seems.

States Rights folks. All but gone.

Trump is like desperate animal that's been backed into a corner. His only option is to attack.

Something that should be of concern is the interaction, or lack of it, between the federal and state/city governments in recent years and, notably, at present.

It has normally been the case that when a state or city requires additional support from the federal government, a state of emergency is declared and a coordinated effort begun to ameliorate the danger.

Federal action not in coordination with local forces has been rare in our [US] recent history. An example of that was the clear violation in certain areas of the country of legal school integration laws. Federal troops were used.

You’re asking why the constitution matters

It matters to him when it suits his argument. Constitution is not a buffet.........
