[W:#2,279][W: #760][W: #350] Trump falls to the ground onstage at rally; unclear what is happening

Tragic :( ****!!!!!!

It's so sad....especially when you consider that the people sitting in the bleachers behind him are usually picked by the campaign as a "special" kind of treat. Imagine going to an event like that, getting chosen to sit up on stage and being excited about it, and then either getting shot or not making it out alive. It's just awful...

I think we can agree that was a despicable comment but the poster in question is an otherwise unimportant anonymous poster from Australia on a 1990s-era technology (a message board). A higher-profile member of a political party charging that this was a politically orchestrated hit attempt is orders of magnitude worse, for reasons that should be obvious. Both are despicable, really.

Having said that, I'm really wondering why Biden hasn't issued a statement as yet. He needs to say something, and it would probably be best if he made a brief media appearance. Probably belongs on another thread, but this is another example of really not having good instincts.
He has. His statement has already been televised in Australia.

I hope the deceased attendee wasn't accidently killed by the Secret Service as they attempted to take down the shooter. That would be so traumatic for whatever agent was involved. Another consequence of the selfish actions of the shooter.
Based on what we know now about the shooter's position, I don't think this is the case. It is more likely they were struck by rounds intended for Trump.

Goes without saying, but I've not heard a lot of Democrats talk about wanting a civil war, 2nd Amendment solutions, fighting like hell, and hanging Mike Pence. That ain't my side.
I will say that "fighting like hell" is something both have said in various forms since I was able to understand politics. It's when you add the context in, like the other things you mentioned. "fight like hell" takes on a different meaning.

Biden did issue a statement. He was on camera saying that he condemned the incident and that he was trying to get in contact with Trump and his campaign.

Because to think any one would stage an assassination attempt where you shoot the person in the ear is so idiotic that only someone desperately trying to blame the other side could think that’s realistic.

You've never watched hockey, have you?

Well, it's certainly radical, and I doubt they were wearing a red hat. Might have been before SS 'took it off'. 🤷‍♂️
What if it was a Russian op. If so, they would certainly plant shooter social media espousing radical left views. Hmmmm

On the bbc here they interviewed a guy who literally saw the shooter getting on the roof and was trying to flag down the police. Like you said someone is getting fired.
Yeah, holy shit! Not to be a CT'er but what if someone in the SS was in on it? This is bad!

Well, as much as I hate Trump and his attempts at destroying the greatest nation on earth, I’m glad he’s not dead and not seriously injured.

Won’t lie, first thought was false flag event, but quickly dismissed that.

Started thinking Trump’s camp is screaming how this guy got close to him with a firearm even with Secret Service around. Future events will double down on firearms being banned. Be interesting take by the NRA. We’ll see how the shooter was killed: secret service or someone else with a gun.

Have to wonder if it was some mentally ill person (most likely). The conspiracy folks have a lot to choose from. The non-MAGA Republicans put a hit out on him, or the corporations who are currently making money with Biden, or Biden ordered the hit (can now claim it was an official act to save the nation from Trump’s incompetence) or insert sowm Dem name instead.

While I don’t justify and condemn this act, no one should be surprised it happened. Trump supporters have advocated violence, even here on this forum. Trump and MAGA policies put people down and want to take freedoms away. Trump himself said he would be a dictator “for a day” and has vowed retribution over policy.

We’ve seen racism and a young woman killed in Charlotte by Trump supporters. We saw January 6th unfold. We’ve seen Trump supporters want to go after, kidnap and kill a Democrat governor. Just to name a few things that Trump inspires.

So, no one should be surprised this happen.

Not. At. All.

It's unfortunate that you took offense at my statement.
But, I'm going to concede to @phoenix2020 's statement that my post was perhaps a tad callus under the circumstances.
Therefore I'm apologizing.
Hey, I absolutely respect that.
Of course logical give and take intelligent discussion is limited on a forum so show nuances and immediate adjustments or not possible.

My apologies on my assumptions.

I'm not a Trump fan but this is not what this country needs, right now or ever.

Have a good evening. I'm going to attempt to have dinner with the spouse.

Biden is right to condone what happened to Trump immediately.

Violence has no place in politics, and waiting for hours after this violent event to say anything would have made Biden look very bad.

Hell, if Biden had taken 3-4 hours to make a statement, I would consider not voting for the guy.
Condemn...not condone.

What I remembered was not matching what was being said. I looked at it again, and while he does flinch, he still does not generally look in that direction of where the sounds came from based on where he grabs his hand -- in fact, his head remains looking at the chart, though he does flinch once he hears the sounds. Now, if I'm missing something (I am just an amateur armchair scientist after all) about his reaction, I'm more than willing to stand corrected.

I am not sure what made you think I am not "in the real world," whatever that means. I have an opinion based on my own observations. You clearly saw something else. So, instead of taking the time to flame me and attributing some sort of maliciousness to what I said (when there are people on here who have said far worse and have far more influence on the site than I ever will have, I might add) … you're picking a fight that doesn't exist.
You understand that in something like this there is a lot of confusion and surprise that effect the way a person reacts.
Thinking that someone is going to react how you, a person sitting behind a screen in no danger and feeling no pain watching the event where you already know what the end result is, thinks they would react is just not real world thinking.

Further more you are talking about what he was doing in the minutes before he got down. The whole thing from first shot till he was on the ground was a matter of a few seconds.

Again, not a CT guy, but you can see him mouthing the word "fight, fight" multiple times. This better not be staged.

That’s the first thing I thought. A blood packet like the ones used in the movies could have been used. He “smacks his ear,” the packet spills out the blood.

If someone wanted Trump dead, he’d be dead. Not grazed by a bullet on the ear.

Based on what we know now about the shooter's position, I don't think this is the case. It is more likely they were struck by rounds intended for Trump.

From which we can probably conclude that the gunman was too far away with an under-powered rifle.
