The bottom line is that the Palestinians and the rest of the Arab world has wanted Israel destroyed since 1948. Faced with a hostile population that wants Israel destroyed, Israeli policy has been to contain the Palestinians because when they were allowed to enter Israel proper, they strap on vest bombs and cause other types of terrorism. I don't like this but I don't see an alternative.
I also don't see the Arab nations being productive. The Arabs control 98% of the Middle East lands but seem unwilling to absorb the Palestinians into their territories.
