This needs to be resolved NOW, before the election. We cannot go through this kind of garbage in this country anymore!!!! Follow VA election law and don't allow rules to be suspended in specific locations. This is exactly why we are where we are with our mess of election integrity. This is appalling!

Yeah no its not

either it is a true statement or a false statement

if true, then Fairfax county is breaking the law

it really is THAT SIMPLE

if people want to vote by mail, they need to include ALL OF THE APPROPRIATE INFO

if not, they can vote in person, where the documents are checked by people

again, we are talking about verifying that the person voting is correct....that is all

brilliant analysis.

Yup!

If the Dems think that there is even a teeny chance that the Dem candidate can lose, they will start the lawsuits.

And the liberal media will start whining about voter suppression.

Oh, the poor babies!

This is exactly right!

I think the Dem candidate will likely win this race - but it has to be won fair and square. Can't we all agree on that? If not, this country is toast.

The nature of the tactic is clear from the Fox noise story.

Fox claims that Fairfax IS violating the law, when in fact, this is only an allegation made by a very well financed right wing front group.

There isn’t anything unusual about this.

Right wing front groups, including this one, have been filing nuisance suits like this before almost every contested congressional election since 2000.

They typically disappear right after the election ,and are quickly forgotten by the target audience because the noise machine shows trump nation a new shiny object.

At one time, Republican US Attorneys were the ones who did the job. But ever since the Bush team got caught trying to nationalize the process and add voter caging efforts to the strategy, they‘ve relied on right wing front groups like this.

This is the usual attack on confidence in election integrity, launched by the usual GOP suspects. It will amount to nothing.

Besides, if the GOP wants to excite (or supress) voterturnout with a tactic like this, Fairfax County is just about the LAST jurisdiction in the Commonwealth to try it in.

The more I think about it, this is a sure signal that the GOP is expecting to lose this election, and they’re readying one of their canned excuses.

This is going to be the new normal.

Screeching in every election. It will never end until elections end. Because the GOP hates the very idea of a representational republic.

Don't worry the crazy cons will now demand audits like the one in Arizona every time they lose an election. Because it has to be fraud if they lose. They will also make sure they get their own conspiracy quacks to complete the audit.

They’ve been doing it in one form or another in every election since 2000.

Well, the real objective is to feed some red meat to the talk radio screamers and the Parler pals.

I think playing up "election fraud" lies each time the GOP is down is as dangerous, as the 1/6 Sedition proved.

I have felt that way since 2000.

Your thread title assumes what you are asserting is fact. Try to be truthful.

In our friend’s defense.

The Fox Noise article makes that declaration in the very first sentence, which is an outright lie.

It claims allegation is fact. But you don’t know it’s an allegation only until you read further down. They’re counting on their audience’s short attention span.

It is nothing more than an allegation by a right wing front group, one with a long history of pulling these sort of stunts just before elections in order to get the item out there in right wing media.

I get that. But the OP didn't even bother to do the bare minimum in vetting the info.

It seems like there is a very easy solution. Look at the applications which were mailed in. Are there any which don't include the last 4 digits of the voter's SSN? If so and that person's ballot was mailed out (there should be a clear record of the ballot being mailed out), we have a problem. Those ballots can't be counted unless and until the voter has provided the correct SSN info.
Assuming these applications were scanned, software can very easily be written to identify those missing this SSN info and compared to ballots/envelopes received. This is not complicated. If the mailed in applications were not scanned yet, they certainly can be quickly and easily.

Yep, changing the election rules (in some cases and places) rather than following the law as written.

I'll agree with that. So what happens when a democrat wins in Georgia and the legislature decides they don't like the results? Will that be fair? Because that's what all these new laws are working towards.
