WASHINGTON — The new year brings a host of state laws that take effect Tuesday — including Vermont paying people to move there.

The state will give people up to $10,000 over two years for those employed by out-of-state companies who are willing to work remotely from Vermont in a home office or cooperative work space.

"We have a demographic problem in the state. We need more people," said Governor Phil Scott in supporting the measure.
===============================
Vermont's population of 600K is shrinking & the median age is increasing. They need more people. But if you are interested, apply soon because the fund that supports this new program is limited to $500K.

A 50 person project is not meaningful except as a demonstration project.

I love Vermont. It's beautiful.

I'd take the ten grand, though, and pay someone to shovel. They get a lot of snow up there.

And you also need 4WD to cope with the mud. One with a snow plow in front.

If working remotely, the 10K would more than get eaten up by state income tax. It would pay to work in NH with no state income tax.

Need a bunch of evangelical Christians to get up there and change the demos so Bernie gets the boot. Might be a Golden oppurtunity, California conservatives, get out of CA and conservifornicate VT and get us two red senate seats

Maybe, if you were a Chicago psychologist, you could quit your job and move to Vermont to open an inn.

They have to try to pay people to move to the state of Bernie Sander, the only socialist in Congress? I'm shocked!

I lived in southern NH & weeks of solid -10 & -20 deg. F were not uncommon. I'm sure it's similar in VT.

The VT cows are a mutant bred to have the downslope pair of legs longer than the upslope pair. That's so they won't fall over while grazing on the hill sides.
