US preps for missle attack.

That's a very narrow minded view and it ignores the wider objectives behind those tactical objectives that have still yet to be fully achieved.

You mean it wasn't for oil?

The president requested options, the pentagon provided options and is making those options real through preparation.

All options are being made real? Without UN approval, the option in the op won't be legal. I mean to say, such an attack would be against two permanent security council members veto.

Who wants different results? Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya have all straightened up nicely. Things have not gone perfectly and could surely be better, but the primary goals were realized.

An average of 40 people are blown up in bombings in Iraq every month. It straightened up very nicely.

We need to start staying out of civil wars unless a genocidal situation can be stopped. That is not the case in Syria. There is every reason to think Syria will fall into chaos with sectarian violence no matter what we do. In addition, we don´t need to piss off Russia and the many other countries that want us to stay out of there.

Is AlQ running advanced training camps in Afghanistan? No. Is Saddam still in violation of 17 UNSCRs? No. Are both countries observing UN agreements? Yes.

Mission accomplished.

Again, tell that to those that loose family in perpetual bombings.

A Prophecy Against Damascus

17 A prophecy against Damascus:

“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,”
declares the Lord Almighty."

The Jewish god loves a good slaughter.

Funny, Damascus is the oldest continually occupied city in the ME. failed prophecy.

Both countries are at as least as bad for the people living there as they were before we invaded, and for many people, much worse. We wasted billions, the Taliban is still popular and both countries are unstable with a lot of sectarian violence. Neither country was a genuine threat to the USA.

There´s still an opportunity.... but screw these moronic ¨prophecies.¨

Well the Bible got something right, we're still trying our level best to slaughter each other in the name of God.

I completely agree with you on this.

An average of 40 people are blown up in bombings in Iraq every month. It straightened up very nicely.

Dead Iraqis under Saddam (just the big numbers, not his small slaughters and not including his institutionalized rape):

(1980s)Invasion of Iran: 500k
(1980s)Genocide of Kurds: 200k
(1990s)Genocide of Marsh Arabs: 50k
(2000s)Children starved selling food from oil: 400k

When 40/month gets near those numbers, let me know.

Both countries are at as least as bad for the people living there as they were before we invaded, .

Nonsense. Saddam killed over a million Iraqis, just counting the big stuff, over 20 years. The violation of 17 UNSCRs resulted in sanctions, now Iraq has foreign aid and investments. No more institutionalized rape or state sanctioned FGM and honor killings.

And the options are bad, really bad, worse than really bad, and beyond our ability to imagine just how bad. Time like this make you wish for a peace bomb that would put the whole place into a coma for a month while saner minds try and figure out just what the hell to do about this.

There is nothing to figure out. We should do nothing. Period.
