US Police arrest Florida pastor

Jones would have been all-but-forgotten had they not arrested him again. If a bunch of folks in the Middle East actually raise hell, because of what some guy did with an immensely small congregation, then they are the ones with issues, not us. You don't give into childish behavior, just to appease the child. If the child wants to kill its own or others in its walls because of something like this, then they deserve a strict presence by their governments.

I agree totally. If the guy didn't get the attention, he'd just fade away. He's like a real life troll.

You're still excusing their actions, and refusing to place the blame for their actions on them.

I'm sorry - but I can't stomach the idea of just stepping aside and going 'okay - here - take whatever you want' to anyone for any reason just because they're more unhinged.

Its not the muslims in the US that are the issue

But US law is and like it or not, Jones is in the US bound by our laws no matter how horrific as you apparently believe them to be.

im not excusing their actions at all you misunderstanding me. I don't give a flying **** about extremist Muslims and their rights but I do care about the Collation forces still in Afghan who's job would get even more dangerous and harder than it already is. It isn't about the extremist Muslims its about getting our lads home and supporting them the best we can from home and if that means this idiot doesn't get to burn 3000 books then so be it.

And the public would be paying the price as a result of constant appeasement of foreign overreaction. One may disagree on whether or not each administration went too far in adapting to international terrorism, but the Bush and Obama administrations have been very clear that they do not want to dramatically alter the United States in order to combat its enemies.

Yeah, think of the message that would send. What other Constitutional rights could they (I mean the violent nut jobs specifically) get us to "sacrifice"? Behavior that is rewarded is repeated, so if we reward the nutjobs by carving out special protective laws just for their preferred texts, how else are we going to allow ourselves to be coerced?

How easily Obama gave Islam control over America. Absolutely disgusting cowardice by our leaders.

Let us see, Florida:

Senate of Florida: 26 republicans versus 14 democrats

Congress of Florida: 76 republicans versus 44 democrats

Governor of Florida: Republican

Polk county:

first district republican commissioner

second district republican commissioner

third district republican commissioner

fourth district republican commissioner

fifth district republican commissioner

Sheriff is also a republican

But who is blamed for his arrest? Of course, Obama is to blame. Not the government of Florida with all them republican leading the state or the Polk county government in which all 5 commissioners are republicans and where the sheriff is also a republican. Even if the arrest warrant would have been signed (and it is not of course, just making a point here) by all 76 republican congressman, 26 republican senators, the republican governor, all 5 republican commissioners of Polk county, the republican sheriff, all the republican members of congress of the USA, all republican senators of the USA, George W. Bush, Herman Cain, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindall, Paul Rand, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, John Huntsman, Michelle Bachman, Rick Perry and miss Alaska herself Sarah Palin had given it stamp of approval, I bet you all the conservatives would be belly aching in choir, with Fox News screaming and shouting at the top of their voices, that it was all the fault of Barack Obama.

I'm sorry to say, while I appreciate your service and respect your viewpoint IMO I think your position is wrong.

First, being in a hostile environment means exactly that...you are going to be facing danger. Unknown enemies are going to be taking pot-shots at you whenever they can. It is not the duty of those you left behind at home to "protect" you by curbing their own freedoms; it is your job to protect yourself and your squadmates, their job to protect themselves and you, and your officer's and nco's jobs to look out for everyone within mission parameters.

Second, the people you are facing need no excuses to shoot at you. I mean, did each one pop up and state "I'm shooting you because someone drew a picture of Mohammed!", or "I'm shooting you because someone just burned a Quoran!"...? No, they were shooting at you because they want you GONE!

Third, you were in Afghanistan. I'm sure you are aware of the history of that part of the world. The hill tribes have been shooting at everyone including each other for as long as missile weapons have existed. Right now several are unified against western troops, just as they were unified against Russian troops, and against British Raj troops, and against the Moguls, Persians, Alexander...Again, they definitely need no special excuse to shoot at foreign soldiers stationed there.

Why should people back home be limited in their freedoms simply because you think it might make people already hostile somehow "less" hostile? The only way that would happen is to LEAVE Afghanistan entirely (which in my opinion is the better option).

The problem I have with it is it gives foreigners control over our lives. We apparently can not control what they get outraged at, and if we are supposed to just bend to their will each time they may get offended at something someone does, somewhere, we have to ask ourselves who the hell our government represents.

You are excusing their actions when you dismiss them and make it a point of saying how they just don't concern you. You made a comment about the US becoming isolationists, the more I read and see, the more I'm beginning to think it's a good idea, especially if it means you all stop believing you have some moral standing to tell us we should "sacrifice" our Constitutional rights. Where do we draw the line (or do we ever)?

what it comes down to for me is that we are so much better than they are in every way. If they want to act like animals, disrespect other religions, murder people based on beliefs etc then let them. Countries like America/Britain/France/Canada etc are so much better than that so lets not stoop to their level.

We wouldn't have a say if it didn't effect us but as I have pointed out it directly effects our soldiers on the frontlines and it effects us because we our your allies. Can't have your cake and eat it my friend.

Then why bother locking up someone who barely anyone cares about, just because a group around the world snoops in and starts blowing it out of proportion?

No its wasn't insurgents shooting at us it was regular people who turned to the insurgents who had before that had been very co-operative however they turned violent because of this particular story and the pictures showing British troops torturing local prisoners. Yes you expect to be shot at in a hostile environment but you don't expect your own country to make the situation worse which was the point I was trying to make.

( I was in basra Iraq not afghan sorry might of been confusing).

its the 21st century he doesn't need the press its called youtube.

As I've already said, you can criticize America and our constitution until you are blue in the face. We will not give up our constitutional rights to please murderous enemies who already want us dead... nor will we give them up because you want us to.

"Let them?" Are you fvcking kidding? You're ok with them doing all that stuff but flip your wig over a couple burned books? We may have English in common but we truly speak a different language.

You actually don't have a say anyway. What other Constitutional rights would you like to see us "sacrifice" so as not to offend your sensibilities?

Then pull back your forces...Your not this backwater country from the 1700's anymore your the most powerful country in the world by your own making but yet you seem to get confused by how certain actions by your citizens can directly effect your troops and allied troops in combat? You can't just say what you want anymore your the big kid in the playground which is something your government understands fully.

Then by all means, we should start asking for their governments to jail every single person that rails against Americans in a demonstration. Then, at home, we should start looting and becoming dogs because of a youtube video.

I tire of you telling us what we and our government should do. Tell Cameron to take it up with Obama. This one-way whinefest now bores me.

well none of us have a say because this a debate forum and I am merely offering my opinion not trying to enforce anything. Trust me if had that kind of power I would tear the Webster dictionary up and make you speak the Queens English

Damn right!!!!
