Nonfarm payrolls increased by 850,000 workers in June as the unemployment rate ticked up to 5.9%, the Labor Department said Friday. Analysts surveyed by Refintiv were expecting the addition of 700,000 and the unemployment rate to fall to 5.7%.
May’s reading was revised higher by 24,000 jobs to 583,000.
Despite the gains, the U.S. economy has 6.8 million fewer workers than in February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic caused much of the economy to shut down.
Amazing what incentive does to employment as people go back to work when payments to stay home stop. Interesting how the blue states still lead the nation in high unemployment and also in Covid Deaths. One of these days supporters of liberalism will wake up and realize what a fool the left has made out of them
