U.S. employers added more jobs than expected last month as additional states announced plans to wind down extended unemployment benefits.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 850,000 workers in June as the unemployment rate ticked up to 5.9%, the Labor Department said Friday. Analysts surveyed by Refintiv were expecting the addition of 700,000 and the unemployment rate to fall to 5.7%.

May’s reading was revised higher by 24,000 jobs to 583,000.

Despite the gains, the U.S. economy has 6.8 million fewer workers than in February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic caused much of the economy to shut down.

Amazing what incentive does to employment as people go back to work when payments to stay home stop. Interesting how the blue states still lead the nation in high unemployment and also in Covid Deaths. One of these days supporters of liberalism will wake up and realize what a fool the left has made out of them

Supporter of liberalism: Thomas Jefferson

When will you wake up and realize that the only accurate political label for you is FASCIST.

LOL, when will you ever post the liberal results that reconcile with the liberal rhetoric. Tell me what it is about liberalism that creates the loyalty you have, could it be the high taxes, high cost of living, support for illegals, poverty, tent cities?

Good job joe. This the difference in having a good president like joe and not a bad one like trump makes.
If we can the unemployment numbers under the previous administration, then I'll give him a standing O.

If only he was gift wrapped a great economy by the previous president.

As expected, you try to spin this politically. Unfortunately for your partisan appetite, the survey period is conducted in the first week of June, so it is impossible for state elimination of federal unemployment benefits to be included in this latest report.

Don't worry, we have upcoming data releases throughout the month that will paint a better picture.

Presidents don't have a lot of influence over the economy. Outside of the Federal Reserve, no one at the federal level has a lot of influence over the economy. You really have to go all the way down to the city level for government to have a lot influence over private sector economic activity.

That being said, the Biden Administration has been far more competent in their pandemic response than the previous administration was, and that is certainly boosting growth as people are more confident in returning back to work, spending money, making business investments and so on.

ROFLMAO, now of course nothing you post is political?? Liberalism is a fraud promoted by people incapable of admitting that they cannot compete in the private sector and need a massive nanny state to take care of them. What happened to JFK Democrats? What is missing in every post of yours is context, when will the liberal results ever reconcile with the promises of liberalism?

Way to go, Joe!

Absolutely!! Typical liberal results, seven million fewer people employed than in February 2020 and blue states still lead the nationin unemployment and Covid Deaths

You're trying to spin positive news into your own political narrative. The fact of the matter is you'll have to wait until August 6th because that will be the first month where the states that ended federal unemployment assistance can be captured.

In the meantime... relish over the fact that more than 3 million jobs have been created in 2021.

Hard to draw a straight line between the stopping of supplemental benefits and the June report. I think most States who stopped those supplements stopped at the end of June or July. No doubt there was some impact but I think many factors are in play to contribute to continued job growth especially the increased wages and benefits being offered. No matter the reasons it's great to see the recovery strengthen.

Talking out of your ass again I see.

Although many economists rejected claims that pandemic-era jobless benefits are keeping people comfortably at home and away from work, various states have cut the special programs ahead of the September deadline.
But that didn't move the needle much in June. Early data from states that ended those programs shows that didn't push workers to resume their job search, said Cailin Birch, global economist at The Economist Intelligence Unit, in emailed comments.

Here we go with the broken record responses.

What has Biden done to you or your family?

What has Biden personally done to create these so-called new jobs?
Although these aren't necessarily new jobs States and Cities were able to hire and rehire thousands using Covid relief funds that Republicssnd were dead set against giving to States.
