Even if it was a good deal for the US and the world it seems highly unlikely that WJC was the one who made the deal.Great outcome, Clinton got the job done, glad the two women are safe, and we'll deal with the politics later.
I'm still waiting for the fall out from this. Maybe it was handled the best possible way but maybe it would've been better to leave them there. I'd hate to think that the balance of world power was shifted toward a guy like KJI merely for the welfare of two people who got themselves into trouble.Again I ask people that think this wasn't handled in the best way we could reasonable hope for,
WHAT SHOULD WE HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?
How can that possibly be the most important thing when dealing with KJI and nuclear weapons? I'd say the safety of the planet is just a tiny bit more important.the most important thing is the two women are safely back with their families and unhurt.
That's completely fair, but part of it may have been KJI's need to feel important in the world, Clinton would easily satisfy that, either way the result was a net good.Even if it was a good deal for the US and the world it seems highly unlikely that WJC was the one who made the deal.
It's highly unlikely this particular facet of our countries relations affected the defense situation either way though, which is why I made that judgement call in this case. I will say that if they get out of line with security, then we will deal harshly with them and swiftly, at least I hope that would be the case. How can that possibly be the most important thing when dealing with KJI and nuclear weapons? I think we should have left them there. After all they did break the laws of another country. It is not our place to intervene. I agree the punishment was overly harsh but they did admittedly break the law.
the 2 lady journalists are preciously important
bubba didn't matter at all, he was merely an envelope containing what we can't see but can quite easily surmise
something valuable to kim which the tiny tinhorn could not publicize
hello
the 23 million "citizens" of north korea, each weighing an average of about 80 pounds, are important, too
TRY not to forget about them next time you swoon for an american pol/tv star
After gods knows what happened behind close curtains....
Just come out and tell us what you think Kim got.
i'm not in a position to know
i know what i believe he got, it's the only thing that makes sense
but if i speculated i'd be torn apart by political foes, i'm not that stupid
and speculation is for gossips
i DO KNOW, however, that kim got SOMETHING
and it was something he VALUED
and it was something it was in HIS interest to keep SECRET
kim usually CROWS, now, doesn't he?
you can put the pieces together, you're very smart
thanks for asking, it's certainly a fair question
cliff
Yes but why did he want a visit from Bill Clinton? Just because he likes him? Obviously Kim gained something from this. I honestly don't know what he gained but he must've gained something. So let me get this straight: you're so afraid of being ridiculed for what you think he got, you're not telling? I think he got a visit from Bill Clinton, which was bribe enough for him.

Close. He believes he got something of value from the visit. It remains to be seen whether he actually did, though I find it highly unlikely he gained anything that is harmful to US interests.
