The attack was specifically about keeping the guy who lost the election in power.

By definition. That is an attack on democracy.

What? No. I want to stop the nazis before they're in charge. It's not an insurrection when my government still exists. They're the ones trying to destroy this country. I don't want to wait and have to destroy the Fourth Reich via insurrection. I want democracy to defend itself by any means necessary.

Jan 6 attack of the capitol, set into action by epic lies by Trump creating a juggernaut of rage which erupted in the attack whose objective was to stop the joint session of congress, a duly elected body by 'the people', aka 'representatives', in order to 'fight like hell and be strong in order to take back the country' with mantras of 'stop the steal' and 'hang Mike Trump' per Trump's directives to that crowd.

What is truly bizarre is your up is down, black is white, etc., Orwellian logic.

Won or lost....they were putting him in.

The idea that the "dustup" that took place could somehow stop that (or was a serious attempt to do so) is ridiculous.

The left needs that come October in order to keep from getting slaughtered in November.

Jan 6th isn't going to save them the way they hope it will.

And the recent raid, for better or worse, is only going to strengthen the resolve of the Trump supporters.

His supported candidates are doing pretty good.

I was hoping all this would die out, but Merrick Garland just can't help but show why he would have been a terrible SCOTUS judge.
