Two 13-year-olds shot while trying to steal car in Southwest Philadelphia: Police

I grew up watching lots of shoot'em-up cowboy movies. While fun to watch, I remember thinking I'm so glad I don't live in that kind of society anymore, but instead in modern civil societies.

Oh well, I guess I was wrong...
I agree. It's so sad we live in a society where people carjack. Some people aren't that privileged or wealthy to live behind those gates.

Many liberals felt that way about Ashley Babbitt.
Only problem with that position.

Babbit’s job was literally that of the guy who shot her.

Security detail.

So super extra double stupid.

Again, as explained earlier, the yout's in this instance drew a firearm when confronted by the victim of their felonious activity. If you "fail to see how the use of deadly force can be justified" in such a circumstance, that's a "you" problem -- one that does not constrain the rest of us from reasonably defending ourselves.

I think your hasty resorting to lethal force is a you problem that should not be used to set the laws on how people should react in such situations.

When people trying to steal a car pull a gun on you for confronting them, I don't think any reasonable person can conclude that your use of deadly force is "hasty." They pulled a gun, they pulled it first, and they pulled it first while in the course of committing a felony. Pew. Pew pew pew until the gun is out of his hand.

Luckily, I live in a country where simple car thieves don't have guns.

I'd retreat if someone pulled a gun on me rather than try and win a shootout.
Make of that as you will.

Without a gun, that and "die in place" are your only options. You're unlikely to win a shootout without a gun, no matter how hard you try.

What would you do if you saw a group attempting to steal something of yours and they pull a gun out at you?
Back off and let my insurance company handle the loss of property. If I thought I could get away with it, use my phone to record them.

Getting myself possibly wounded or killed and wounding or possibly killing two kids over property isn't worth it. It's just property. After getting the phone call, I'd wait to see what would happen and then report it, get a police report to make a claim and then get a check later.

I'm fine with CCW, by the way, but this just proves that most criminals aren't deterred by the fact they don't readily know if someone is armed or not. To think otherwise is to deny reality.
