Tweet of the Week: AOC’s “student debt”

Why not? What's the problem with providing cost free education to anyone who wants to take classes, whatever the subject? Where is the harm?
I'm not sure it's good for us to be in the mindset that the only way for a person to learn something or read a book is by enrolling in a class at $1,000/credit hour or whatever. Especially in this age where information, affinity groups, even pedagogy are so widely accessible and freely available.

how many? I'LL submit an invoice first thing in the morning.

I'm not greedy. One will suffice. I would like it by Christmas, though. I know how government red tape is, though, so I should probably expect it by next Christmas.

Why stop there? Shouldn't housing be free as well?
We can solve simple poverty as easily as at-will employment allows. Labor should be able to obtain compensation for being unemployed on an at-will basis in our at-will employment States. Our social solutions should be market friendly.

At-will employment is generally described as follows: "any hiring is presumed to be 'at will'; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals 'for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all,' and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work."
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

Yes. It could and should be used EVERYWHERE, no matter which pig has lipstick on.

How much should the US Department of Offense budget be reduced?

If you subsidize something you get more of it. Pay people for not working, and most people will choose to sit home and collect government checks.

Do you want more people to work?

Exactly, once it has been established that the state's role is to provide people free stuff, there's no logical stopping point.

Slippery slope fallacy.

Slippery slope fallacy.

Slippery slope arguments are not always fallacious. In this case, there have been many counrtries which have attempted to provide the people they rule over with most everything they need. We call them communist countries, and a few still exist to this day.

The exact quote of what she said is "“I’m 32 years old now,” the congresswoman said. “I have over $17,000 in student loan debt, and I didn’t go to graduate school because I knew that getting another degree would drown me in debt that I would never be able to surpass. This is unacceptable.” She made that statement on the house floor Dec 7.

She has been after the cancellation of student debt for a long time, I guess everyone who does not get into student debt should pay for those who do.

So exactly what is the point that conservatives get intentionally wrong about what she said?
Student debt is a drag on the economy. It is in our nation's interest to educate their population. The govt (and its lending partners) should not be profiting off of these loans. I work with teachers that are over 50 years old and are still paying off their student loans.

Your comment was slippery slope fallacious.

An actual, Right to Work, in alleged right-to-work States!

Maybe, but I'm just asking the guy with the worst screen name on DP if he wants more people to work.

If they aren't working, can you honestly call it "Labor"?

Actually the DOO should be abolished... Actually I think it is.

50% would be a good start on all departments and then we can get serious.

DOO is slang for the DoD. And it's capital :poop:.
