As expected after Trump's cut and run, the Turks are on the move in NE Syria.

Turkey begins military offensive into Syria after US pulled back troops - CNNPolitics

Turkey has launched a planned military offensive into northeastern Syria, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Wednesday, just days after the Trump administration announced it was pulling US troops back from the border area.

"Our aim is to destroy the terror corridor which is trying to be established on our southern border and to bring peace and peace to the region," Erdogan tweeted.

He added that Turkey "will preserve Syria's territorial integrity and liberate local communities from terrorists."

So, is this as Trump and Erdogan say, a war on terror? Or is it a sanctioned slaughter of the Kurds, like what everyone else says?

Tell us where you stand.

The Turks have been given a green light to clear the Kurds from their border with Syria. I think this is a massive mistake that will have serious consequences in Syria since the soldiers who were actively fighting ISIS will have bigger fish to fry. More importantly, their attitude toward the US will likely shift to an adversarial one. How that plays out remains to be seen.

Simple solution: Congress should declare war on Syria; force the president to go all in.

I gotta better idea, let's throw the bums out and put in some smarter management who would have understood at the outset we shouldn't be pulling out of Syria.

Pence, a traditional conservative, I doubt sincerely, would have done this.

You want the US involved with bad blood in northern Syria where Turkey is attacking? Why is Turkey attacking northern Syria? Do the Kurds harbor alleged terrorists of Turkey? What does Syria have to say about raids into northern Syria by Turkey? I thought Turkey was a moderate Muslim country.

I love how Liberals oppose intervention, until Trump opposes intervention, then they're all for it. :lamo

Turkey is a NATO allie. What are we supposed to do? Declare war on Turkey?

Liberals have always opposed slaughter. It's Right Wing Fascists who support it, as we see today.

We agree ... and that's why we prevent people like my son from being slaughtered on a battle field ... for nothing.

I think it's the upside down nature of it. America used to be counted on for being a force for good in the world - in this case, preventing genocide would have been a no brainer for past (pre 2016) better versions of yourselves.

But, for better or for worse, it would appear that the world needs to face reality and take you guys down from your pedestal. Ultimately this is a good thing - better for us (the rest of the world) than for you in the long run, but a good thing nonetheless. It's just too bad that so many people die when you guys change your mind on who you want to be.

Well, how about your country send troops to Syria and protect the Kurds?

Yup; same **** with Germany. They send some money to the "war effort" in Syria but not a single Bundeswehr guy.

I opposed the slaughter Bush's lies created in Iraq. Yes.

Why do Republican presidents always lie?

It is time for you to realize something: this is not a slaughter of Kurds, sanctioned or not.

If Erdogan wanted to "slaughter" the Kurds, he would have started within his own country: about 20% or 15 million of the Turkish population are Kurds.

From the early days of Saturday Night Live, Dan Akyroyd to Jane Curtin. Me to Bozo the President:

"Jane you ignorant slut"

Jane Curtin was not an ignorant slut and the character she played that night was not an ignorant slut.

You Donald are an ignorant slut and you will open your skirts for any, ANY personal gratuity and you don't give a damn who suffers for your indecencies.

Trump got punked by Erdogan. His own ignorance is to blame.

100 dollars says he had no idea Turkey and the Kurds were enemies until this week.
