Tumblr Deletes All Porn

Tumblr, the best porn on the internet for at least four years, and I am an expert on the subject.

Kobie, you keep being out of the loop!

You should go get yourself a hamster and stop telling me tumblr was the best spot for pr0n

I see what you did there!

I guess they got bored of watching the ship sink and decided to just blow a giant hole in the side of it.

It seems like pornography in general is a hotbed of legal problems, frankly when you get down to it it's prostitution.

The only reason human sex trafficking exists is because prostitution is illegal and, therefore, unregulated. Legalize prostitution; regulate it, tax it, provide oversight to control it.

Same argument for drugs.

As long as you film it it's legal

There are ways of dealing with that that don't involve taking down every single bit of adult content.

When lawyers are involved, or could be, it's best to not risk it.

Some websites seem to have no problem keeping only legal adult content on their websites. Why couldn't tumblr?

I don't know, dont' care. They looked at the risk of how their platform was set up, decided the risk was too high. Simple as that.

Get rid of the gay and black gay porn. They probably have under covered links to child porn.

Hopefully this idiotic move will send them tumbling over the edge. ;)

This is not a "We just decided".... they were pushed by the New Puritans who demand that all such fun be had by none because they dont like it.

I predict tumblr isn't going to be around for much longer.

They still lose lots of money right?

I mean if they have not figured out how to make money yet then they likely never will.

Maybe because tumblr was far looser with its standards and people who used tumblr liked that feature because that allowed people on tumblr to express themselves more freely.

I find myself agreeing with the legislation, the reason being that tumblr is not a self-proclaimed porn site. It's a mixed use site. Meaning that a kid going there to learn about the latest superhero movie could follow a bunch of links and end up at a porn blog without ever leaving the site. Also, because it has thousands of users contributing content independently, child porn could easily slip by. Then tumblr is responsible.

At least porn sites are contained and run by a single party, and net nanny software can blacklist them from being accessed. Sites with mixed use are a lot more ambiguous. And I'm sorry but simply having a disclaimer on some tumblr pages saying it's for 21 and older only isn't enough.

If tumblr is so renowned for porn then maybe it should make a partner site for adults only.

On the flipside, I do think child porn laws are being used as a means to sabotage internet freedoms, like in Australia. They created a whole software firewall just for that purpose, which is predictably now being used to censor other kinds of content.

Shouldn’t the parents be more responsible for what their kids access on the internet instead of pawning the responsibilities onto the corporations?

Of course. As long as said material is legal, which it is in the vast, vast majority of cases in question.

Maybe because tumblr was far looser with its standards and people who used tumblr liked that feature because that allowed people on tumblr to express themselves more freely.

There are some sites out there that made the pre-censoring Tumblr look tame by comparison.

I don't really know about their finances, I just know that porn makes up a large part of their content. I don't really know what people will use the site for if not porn.
