Do you apply those same criteria to the Bible or religion? After all the Bible (or any religious text of your preference) is a book, which isn't proof according to you.
Yes you do and no the book doesn't tell you. The book explains to you that your nature is to want to do wrong. But you don't have to.As an adult do you not know the difference between right and wrong? Does a book have to tell you?
Well that thing I explained above where a recovering addict or alcoholic places somewhere else's needs above their desire to engage in this behavior, it gives it a reason more than just doing it out of the goodness of your heart. What's with this belief in an all powerful imaginary being that is invisible?
Asking for forgiveness is not something specific to Christianity or even religious believers. If you've done something wrong to somebody and you know it and they forgive you that doesn't make them a better soul it makes the world a better place. Don't think of it so much as asking some being in the sky for forgiveness. Think of it as for giving yourself for giving others being forgiven. That's what it's about this is a higher entity concept that helps us understand something about ourselves. To my knowledge not a person has proved this entity even exists yet I'm told my many I should ask for forgiveness from this invisible entity and then worship said entity?
I don't blame you for feeling this way after 10 years of Catholic School. I spent 10 years as a Catholic convert and that was enough for me.Sorry, but that sounds crazy to me even after ten years of catholic school.
God is a concept, by which we measure our pain. John Lennon. You've been studying man's word. Not god's.
Bullcrap....
Bullcrap....
What proof? You clearly have no idea what proof is. You're just embarrassing yourself with your own ignorance.
I stopped reading after the second sentence. My nature is to want to do wrong? Wrong, and then I stopped reading. My nature is to try to make people around me smile and be happy. If that's wrong, you can keep your religion, I certainly don't need it.Yes you do and no the book doesn't tell you. The book explains to you that your nature is to want to do wrong. But you don't have to.
Take for instance a recovering addict. They may trust themselves too handle their addiction just fine but a lot of people in this position need help.
I think there's a situation created sometimes where people treat helping them like affirming their beliefs and that's why I don't support the 12-step program. But there are other ways of getting help and learning how to deny your base your instincts. And that's for a greater purpose your overall health and longevity I think there may be people that love you want you in their life for as long as possible. If you can put their needs at a higher priority than a desire to engage in whatever substance a person might enjoy then isn't that trusting others?

Jesus teaches that we are all divine but there is part of us that is also profane. God looks for the divinity he sees the divinity it is up to us to see that in others. Believe it or not he is the god of the lowly the least of us. Keep that in mind when the church types are on their high horse about something.

If you were God is there something you couldn't forgive.

Bible Study Toolswe are ALL sinners, without hope.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
Bongs, you still don't recognize your own nature yet: we are ALL sinners, without hope.
until you get there, all you have to look forward to is the Judgement day and the Toaster day.
for starts you need to seek God with all your heart and FIND him. then walk with Jesus down the narrow way leading to Eternal Life.
simple, but most don't get it. so i run Cartoons for this so there is Zero excuse....

I believe one of the greatest gifts God has given you is hope. After all, that is what his promises are designed to do – inspire hope. It gives us the ability to look at any situation and know that regardless of how it may appear God is going to come through. This is the essence of what hope is.
However, if you are honest, the challenges of life can sometimes seem overwhelming.
I know because I have faced those challenges just like you have. When these challenges attack, the thing they often come after is your hope. They try to move you from hope to despair, but that doesn’t have to be the case.
Today I want you to stand tall encouraged by the hope that dwells within you. I want to answer the question “what is hope,” but I want more for you. I don’t want you to just know what it is, I want you to walk in the victory that comes from hope.
What Is Hope?
Let’s start by taking a look at what hope is from both a dictionary definition and a biblical one.
Hope (Dictionary) – The general consensus from all dictionary definitions is that hope is a feeling of expectation, a desire or wish for a certain thing to happen.
Hope (Bible) – A biblical definition of hope takes it one step further. Hope is an expectation with certainty that God will do what he has said.
I hope you can see the difference. One is a wish or desire, the other is a certainty or guarantee.
Let me use a verse from Scripture to illustrate the point.
Hebrews 11:1
Faith in Action
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Christianity reduced to a cartoon, nice.Bongs, you still don't recognize your own nature yet: we are ALL sinners, without hope.

You do not!
a family member had a brain bleed and large AVM .... 12 months she was told inoperable. Recently she had 3 successive strokes and they said ok ... you're going to die, or we're going to try a surgery that's got a high probability of failure and certainly if you live there will be life changing results ..... memory loss, personality changes, physical impairments .... who knows. Its the brain, there is a lot that can go wrong.
surgery was a 12 hour ordeal ............ they expected 5-7 days of slowly bringing her awake, then 3-5 weeks of rehabilitation at the hospital complex
we are at day 5 and she was released to go home. She's walking, talking well, eating well ........... miraculous is what everyone including doctors have said multiple times
thing is .... when something happens in your life that's miraculous? you don't have to prove it to anyone .... you just know it
