Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

It's completely unprofessional, and embarrassing to us all that our elected leader would use such terms to describe other nations. He is supposed to be a diplomat, and needs to be diplomatic. I don't see this as excusable.

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

No, it's not offensive. It's true. Just like I'd say the south and west sides of Chicago are **** holes just like I'd say the overwhelming majority of Detroit is a **** hole.

They is what they is.

Damn. Get a grip people.

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

The govt. doesn't "LET" anyone vote, it's a god given right as a citizen. (Birth right)
Well, if we are talking about the quality of company in our barbeque, I'd rather take the foreigner from a ****hole country that seems to be more likely to be of working age, in highly valued fields, and is smarter.

Get out of my barbeque.

"Per se racism" is a new one on me. What's that?

Can you point out God’s signature on the Constitution?

Rufus King of MA is the closest!

Read as (Birth right).

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

And, somehow or other, referring to one's political opponents as "deplorables" is just fine. Hillary gets a pass but Trump doesn't. Groovy.

Weren't the deplorables the people who applauded Trump's use of white grievance and racial animus as a campaign theme? Pretty appropriate, she doesn't get a pass, she should get a gold star. Oh yes, there was that angle also, where Trump campaign used a certain type of star in referencing Hilary.

Why in the world would you excuse this or think others should?

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

Seen a couple of different arguments and curious which is most prevalent. Though you might agree with more than one, please choose the one you most agree with. I didn't make it multiple choice because it would be too easy to just click them all.

Poll on the way.

It is unprofessional/unbecoming. Trump continues to desecrate the office of POTUS. USA is... was a nation built by immigrants escaping so-called '****holes' to find a better life.

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

Is there a Bible passage maybe?

Never read the book, stop looking for an argument when you know exactly what a birth right is.

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

He wants blonde blue-eyed Scandiwegians, not brown people.

Didn't you know there are thousands of Norwegians stuck in line behind all those dirty lazy brown people waiting to get into the greatest country in the history of ever?

Except it's not a birthright. It's pretty easy to have it stripped from you permanently for one set of folks, and then just needs court authorization for another set of folks.

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

President Trump's alleged comment about African countries was vulgar, inaccurate, arguably racist and highly unprofessional. If the allegations are true and if he was a man of character he would publicly apologise for uttering such nastiness. But I fear he is not such a man and will dissemble and equivocate until the news cycle moves on to the next cause de jour. These are sorry times for what used to be a noble republic and a nation of proud Americans. You have my deepest sympathies America.

Cheers.

No argument here, just calling a spade, you know........

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

It?s not just Trump: Western media has long treated black and brown countries like ‘****holes’ - The Washington Post

Studies show headlines from major Western media outlets are largely negative when it comes to Africa. It was just last year that a New York Times opinions essay about Congo waxed on about monkey brains and how the country was perhaps better off 100 years ago under colonialism. Only with Africa coverage can programs such as “60 Minutes” get away with parachuting American journalists to Liberia to report on ebola — and not interview a single Liberian on camera for the story. Western media and literature are riddled with cliche-white savior journalism.

Never mind that lazy “Ooga-Booga” journalism (as journalist Howard French calls its) fails to reckon with the fact that African countries are home to some of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Never mind that long before mobile money-sharing systems such as Venmo came to the United States, countries like Kenya were using mobile platforms including M-Pesa. Never mind that African countries are beginning to produce their own cars, embrace biometric technology and venture into space exploration. When it comes to Africa, American media is rarely interested in positive headlines.

I suppose you prefer nicer terms to describe racists/misogynists/trolls/anti-semites?

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

he was using it as a rationale to stop people from entering the u.s. That's the primary reason why it ought to be offensive.

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

Not offensive at all. There are a lot of "**** hole" countries on the orb we call earth. We don't really need people from any of them coming here.

Ah, okay, so send back the Irish, Chinese, and Italians, right?

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

Their fake morality is disgusting.

I suppose that is the only way to justify the unchristian behavior you and your cohorts feels towards the poor, pretend everyone else is faking their morals.

What's unchristian about not letting strangers into your home where your family lives?

Re: Trump's "sh**hole" comment it offensive because...

You liberals do that all the time. Trump wants immigrants who will benefit America not refugees from every ****hole on the planet. You may disagree, but that is what he is saying.

America was built by people from ****holes.

What could a refugee do that would benefit America? Would racing into a burning building repeatedly and saving 4 lives, and trying once more and dying in the flames. Would that count for you? Because that is exactly what an immigrant from Ghana recently did...a hero...
PFC Emmanuel Mensah. The Army awarded him the Soldier's Medal.

From Frank Bruni who recently wrote about this:
Who better embodies our nation’s values? A politician with a history of racist comments who took five deferments to escape military duty in the Vietnam War, including one for heel spurs? Or a heroic Ghanaian immigrant and soldier who dies in a fire while rescuing others?

Funniest apples and oranges comparison I've seen today. To pretend the poor/destitute have nothing to offer is about as unChristian of a position as one can have, especially when you treat those people with disdain.
