Trump's deportation push gets boost from border state with massive plot of land

Depends on were you get your facts and how up to date they are. But thanks for the suggestion, this is what I found:

My findings:
The total number of unauthorized immigrants from Mexico from 2021 to 2024 is estimated to be 2.8 million. However, the number of unauthorized Mexican immigrants in the United States has been declining for over 15 years. In 2022, there were about 4 million unauthorized immigrants from Mexico, which was the largest number of any origin country.

And from your link:
It is speaking mostly of immigrants of legal immigration status, were as I referred to undocumented status. But in you link it does contain this: "As of 2022, about 4 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. are Mexican. This is the largest number of any origin country, representing more than one-third of all unauthorized immigrants. However, the Mexican unauthorized immigrant population is down from a peak of almost 7 million in 2007, when Mexicans accounted for 57% of all unauthorized immigrants."

So thanks for keeping my "facts" in order.
So easy it is to post a citation

I believe that by law people requesting asylum in this country are suppose to be detained until their hearing takes place. Unfortunately there are nowhere near enough detention centers to accomodate those requesting asylum, so these people are released into our society and frequently simply don't show up at their hearing-which can take years. They blend in and are lost to followup. They know the game: just request asylum and you can remain here for a long time, illegally.
And they contribute to society. They work; they pay taxes. They even start businesses. We should welcome them as the asset they are.

I may not have made myself clear. H'es been Potus for the last 8 years, according to election deniers who've been crying for the last 4 years.
They were crying for the last four years.
Now it’s our turn
These things are cyclical

And they contribute to society. They work; they pay taxes. They even start businesses. We should welcome them as the asset they are.
We should welcome all the immigrants the country needs with some wiggle room for those genuinely being persecuted in their home country.
But we can’t accept everyone here. Once the available job quota is filled I think we should cut it off. We don’t need to support immigrants for whom there isn’t work.

Politics is what it is. Take it up with your Congressperson.

Trump will be in control and people on the sidelines will have to decide if what he is doing is good for the country.
Funny thing is the last time he was in office the people decided he was not doing so good for the country. In fact, he was terrible.

Don't forget the old wise saying: "Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result."

It is easy to say this, but I firmly believe Covid not only threw a wrench into the machinery of the world, it also ruined Trump's chances for his re-election.
People held Trump responsible for Covid deaths and held him accountable for the damage to our economy.
Biden was the White Knight who was going to make it all better.

Just to make sure you understand the meaning of
'common knowledge' among voters, the voters who elected Trump really liked the economy as it was before the pandemic hit in 2020.
And they thought he could do the same for them this time.
It's a heavy lift, I know.

The jackass committed the crimes of which he was found guilty or liable long before he became president. And they were not moving violations or parking tickets. They were major crimes. Sexual assault. Fraud. Libel. Falsifying business records to influence an election, a felony. He needs to face the music and be penalized in the same manner I would be penalized had I committed those crimes. There is no cogent reason whatsoever why he should get off Scott free . None.
Could you explain exactly what cases you're talking about? For instance I am not aware of any criminal charges of which Trump was convicted that = sexual assault.
People entering illegally are criminals, not invaders. Here is the definition of “invader”:

“an army or country that uses force to enter and take controlof another country:”
There are plenty of definitions you can cherrypick. I can do the same:

Not sure why you're using this as a blunt object to argue against walls.

Words matter. Illegals should be prosecuted as criminals but they don’t meet the criteria for being invaders.

My home has walls to keep the cold outside, among other reasons.
 They must have totally different homes, then, in some parts of California that have nice weather year-round.
People who have homes with walls still get burglarized. That’s one reason walls are ineffective at preventing crime.
ROFL! What an absurd argument! Can I try? "People who wear seat belts still die in car crashes. Seat belts are ineffective at preventing vehicular collision-related death."
A determined person can still get into this country illegally.
Oh I see so if something does not 100% prevent an unwanted event from occurring, it is totally worthless. Doctors don't always cure disease, so they're worthless. Air bags don't always prevent death or injury, so they're worthless. Policemen don't always catch every criminal, so they're worthless.

I hope I'm doing it right!
But if there’s no work here then the incentive to cross is removed. That’s why you put the onus on the employers.
It's already on the employers for ****'s sake.

But on it's own it's insufficient. Just as cars have not just seat belts, but air bags as well, I don't see why we can't keep the employer requirements AND use a wall.

What part of “bye” do you not understand?

Lol
Another brilliant idea!
Tax the people coming across the border. Do you think these people have any money? You might be able to squeeze $5 out of them but that’s about it. They are crossing because they HAVE no money. Ever tried to squeeze water out of a rock?
I have no problem deporting all the criminals here illegally or preventing them from entering if we can identify them. But they make up a tiny percentage of those here illegally or wanting to work here. Your “solution” would do nothing to fix the larger problem.
So the poor people in this country should pay for them. I don't think so.

They are being exploited by the farmers. It is time these people and these farmers realized their illegal actions should not be paid by the American taxpayer. Biden and Harris policies have already driven the price of everything up too high. Their failure at the border is clearly not part of the solution but more of the problem.

A toll to cross the border will reduce the the number of people crossing the border. The people crossing will pay for the extra manpower and facilities to protect our border not the hard working people of this country.

There are a lot of things I wanted to do in my life that I couldn't do because of the cost. It is time they learn we are not paying their way as well.

Hilarious.
Just curious: how much of a "toll" should these people be assessed in your warped vision?
And who exactly is going to take the jobs that become vacant if these people are no longer around? You? I am not going to be able to do hard labor for minimum wage or less so leave me out of it.

The hard working people in this country have been doing these jobs including myself for a fair wage and we can still do them. Ne need for exploiting people from other countries. We ended slavery and this needs to end as well.

How much is your toll? You said you want to assess these people who have nothing a toll.
How much?

The 1,402 acres are in the Rio Grande Valley sector near the border.
You think that'll do it? You're talking about piling 12 million people in 2 square miles. That's two people per square yard. Do the math.

That needs to be calculated by the cost of securing our border by the number of people crossing the border.

I think the trucks and commercial vehicles coming and going on a regular basis should have a system similar to toll roads. Most of this traffic should be spot checked and move quickly and efficiently. When violators are found the companies violating the law should be severely penalized. Legitimate businesses will police themselves to streamline cost of being searched more often from violations as well as heavy fines.

Everyday legal people coming and going should be vetted and have an ID streamlining their coming and going as well as a minimal toll. You have a tag on your vehicle and if caught breaking the law the tag revoked and you will pay more for us to search you and your vehicle because you have proven to have no respect for our laws.

People working in this country should have a work visa. That is the law. Obey the law or lose your privilege to enter our country. If these people are legitimate workers on farms they should be paid a fair wage and all tolls and taxes should be paid. This lawless behavior needs to be addressed.

This is almost exactly what I am proposing: a work visa program, but for people who are already here, legally or illegally, and for those who want to work here but live elsewhere. It’s a stupid waste of money and effort to deport them all (those here illegally) then readmit them.
Your idea of a toll is dumb because these people have just the clothes on their backs when they enter. If you want to have a reasonable debate you’ll need to do so based in reality, not the fantasy Magaworld.

I never said that or anything like that. It was a news article.

Your logic is extremely flawed however. You are assuming that many won’t choose to self deport. You also assume that every single illegal would all be there at the same time.

Why do Liberals make these type silly arguments?

This may come as a surprise but if you take policy positions that resemble Hitlers some people will point out that your policy positions resemble Hitlers.

Maybe try not taking those policy positions and people will stop seeing the resemblence.

He is going to start by securing our border to stop the criminal flow of people into this country. Stop the bleeding.
He is going to start with our jails and and prisons. The current policy of tossing them back on the street to prey on more citizens will change to removing the criminal element from our country.
The people here illegally, working illegally, and the people supporting the illegal process will see this is coming to an end. These people had better abandon their illegal ways or suffer the consequences. It is time to apply for work a visas and register to be in this country. This sneaking around breaking our laws needs to end.
The people not paying these people a fair wage and breaking our laws needs to end. They need to know we are no longer looking the other way but coming for them.
The people coming into this country have same problem the poor here have when they want to use a toll bridge or road. You pay or you don't go. That is reality of life. Why should I pay their way? Explain to me why my tax dollars are paying instead of the people crossing the border. It is time they paid their share or do with out.

What does denying he lost in 2020 have anything to do with the president today? That is ancient history except for the rabid Trump haters.
People like me are looking to see what he is going to do to help the country. What look backward? That is unproductive.
So glad I am on the Right side of the political fence.
