I think it is almost inevitable. Trump wants to put his brand on everything...essentially to own everything by name.
Not sure what he will call the new party (obviously the Trump Party does not work)...but it will be something that distinguishes it as a Trump creation.
If he is the nominee and wins...it will be a miracle, because the establishment obviously does not want to win with him...and probably cannot win without him. His revenge for having opposed him will be to destroy the party from within...and replace it with whatever he dreams up.
If he is the nominee and loses...he will place the blame on the party and take his supporters (and a lot of disaffected Democrats and Independents) into a new party of his makings.
If he is NOT the nominee...Hell's fury will rain down on the Republican Party like a monsoon on Formosa. He will tear the party asunder from without. (Think Samuel L. Jackson speaking, "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.)
What you are watching here, folks, is a political party committing Seppuku with media coverage.
We've all lived through amazing things with the technical revolution of the last two decades...but my guess is if asked on a death bed for the most amazing, most of us will offer memories of the election of 2016 as the winner.
