You might think it s too late to remove his pension and all his benefits as well as forbidding him from ever running for office again and you are wrong. There will be a message sent to the seditious demagogue. And that is only if Mitch really will refuse to put the Traitor on trial until the 20th. I want him gone sooner, he is a clear and present danger every minute he remains.
 
I'm pretty sure he's much more worried about the state of new york than being impeached again and rightfully so.

It's about a physician/surgeon that has autism.

Now, we have a president with a mental condition. Only, this is for real. This ain't TV.

He thinks he is going to keep running for President until 2024 and that is not acceptable. Sedition cannot be ignored. I also don't mind NY going after him too.

You give him way too much credit. He did what he did just to avoid having to accept defeat, I don't think think sedition was on his mind. Though clearly there were severe consequences to his lies, both to Republican party and to the country as a whole.
 
If the trial is delayed until Jan. 22-ish, the Senate will be controlled by the Democrats. So the trial at least will not be a sham like the last impeachment. They would still need 2/3rds of the Senators who are PRESENT at the time of the vote in order to convict. (Yes, I know he will already be gone from office by then.) So Senators can abstain by not being present during the vote (I'd just go take a d*mp during the vote), and then the 2/3rds will be diminished. Say there are only 75 Senators present during the vote. Then it would take 50 votes to convict.

Once convicted by 2/3rds, it only takes a majority on a subsequent vote to bar him from future federal offices and presumably to deny him his pension and secret service, etc.
 
I believe the specific law is the 'ex president's act of 1958'

His condition in TGD gave him alternate insights into his work other people wouldn't usually see that proves useful(that's the promise anyway). Trump's, if he has one, seems only to hinder.
 
I think the last thing Senile Joe wants is this to happen because there is a good chance the GOP takes both houses in 2022 and paybacks could be a real Pelosi

There is no chance the GOP takes over either house in 2022. Trump has destroyed the GOP. I don't know why a person would vote Republican since they think their vote wont count anyway.

I disagree with this.
Bush destroyed the GOP by 2008 but by 2010 they were back taking the lion share of the seats.
They will be back. Their people aren’t going anywhere and they aren’t even abandoning Trump.
I think control of the House & Senate hangs in the balance. It’s going to depend on what Democrats do.. and if the Republicans obstruct from the minority. And how Democrats message around that.

There is every chance the GOP will take back both chambers in 2022, especially the House. The only thing that could stop that is if Trumpers are serious about leaving the GOP.

Redistricting favors the GOP having several more state legislatures, especially in important and battleground states. Reapportionment most definitely favors the GOP.
 
Though the extreme Reich wing sites and platforms I look at are damning the GOP, I suspect that a lot of that traffic is foreign.

I’d guess that Trump has lost half of his 74.2 million voters. They will still vote GOP. We can only hope the other half sits out future elections.

RT and our foreign enemies are having a field day with this insurrection. Our Allies are shocked and Democracy has suffered.
 

I saw Trumps approval was like 48%, yeah? That’s not congruent with him losing half of Republicans.

I think they’ll just find a way to blame the left. They’ll say that the left was so communist they made those Trump patriots take action. Limbaugh was already laying that groundwork on his show, comparing the MAGA terrorists to the Founding Fathers during the Revolutionary War.
 
No public office should have a pension or benefits in the first place. I voted for Trump the first time for his SCOTUS nomination and I got what I wanted. You can do what you want with him now, I care not.
 
Rasmussen is garbage, just like these extreme far-right sites and platforms. All we need to do is continue to show Americans the emerging videos and sound, along with the messages on these sites and platforms. None of the arrested are Antifa, yet. The best thing I’ve seen is trumpers say they’re abandoning the GOP.

I'd really like to see that actually - why not do it when they have a majority? Symbolic perhaps but stripping him of his presidency and denying him those future honors will be a decent kick in the teeth.

This is a faulty line of thinking. The republicans have shown time and time again that they have no consciences. Their political strategy is to do literally anything it takes to win. Doesn't matter how dishonest or how much it hurts the country. Democrats have tried taking the high road and it didn't work. It's time they try playing as dirty as the republicans do instead.

Agreed it's the last thing Biden wants though I'd say it's more because it interferes with what he wants to get done. Last thing he wants or needs is sideshow.

So you think the "Teflon Don" should continue is winning streak even after he sent a murderous mob into the Capitol? A message needs to be sent or the demagogue will continue to subvert this country. He will not get away with this. I am OK with this after he leaves office too.
