Donald Trump's aides had persuaded him to cancel a press conference scheduled on the one-year anniversary of the Capitol riot over concerns that the former president lacked a clear message and that the event could result in a backlash of bad publicity, The Washington Post reported.

Citing a person close to the matter, The Post reported that Trump had wanted to make a scene or mock reporters at the event, and didn't know exactly what he wanted his message to be.

"It was going to be awful, awful press," a Trump advisor told the publication, adding that the former president had announced the event without a clear plan.

And Jan 6 is no more irrelevant than 9/11 is. We need to get to the bottom of who set it up and prevent it from happening again, or hopefully discover that it really was a one off, and occurred because of a confluence of events unlikely to be repeated. But just look at the effect it had on the GOP, with republicans who condemned what happened now afraid to recognize it. Nevertheless, I believe as Trump’s crookedness is revealed, the party will move away from him. But he has succeeded in moving it to try to suppress votes, and that damage may take a long time to undo.

I am proud to belong to and support the side that cares about working people, the environment, international cooperation and human rights. Much of the GOP does too. Trumpism was and still is an aberration, a flirtation with a fascist style of politics we will move on from, a phenomenon we will have difficulty explaining to the next generation.

Because there is evidence of voter fraud. There's been evidence of that since elections started. Did you miss the video of the people counting the same ballots over and over and over? It's been posted 1/2 a dozen times or more.
3000 people were killed on 9/11. Only one died on 1/6. More people are injured and killed during a BLM riot.
