Trump, who speaks English like a street thug, thinks it's on him to defend the language of Shakespeare.

And who said that Shakespeare spoke a good correct English ? He is a mythical person to begin with. And I heard he got his education somewhere in Check republic. He was a sort of migrant, Shakespeare. In todays America he would have been thrown out of the country for his fake documents. We can not trust to such uncredible characters when it comes to language standards.

Converting documents; information and documents converted to other languages costs money, converting signs costs money.

American Sign Language is not simply a tactile language interpretation. It is not English. ASL is a language in and of itself. How will Trumps edict change the provision of ASL interpreters to Deaf people? In the current political climate Trump's english language definition may be an excuse for businesses, government agencies, schools, public businesses to stop providing qualified licensed ASL interpreters. Yes, there are laws such as the ADA but it would not be surprising to see the ADA challenged to benefit government, schools and businesses financially from providing interpreters.

Thing Three:

Trump's english national language presidential directive will give him an immediate boost among and within his nationalistic base: red hats, American flags on everything, burned books, abortion bans, word restrictions in all entities receiving federal money and English only spoken here.

Thing Four:

Diversion. The english national language edict is just another nothing that will divert public attention from the Trump/Musk/MAGA shitstorm.
