Donald Trump has threatened to close the southern border with Mexico “entirely” if Democrats don’t give in and give him funding for his wall. The president appeared to be infuriated by Senate Democrats’ refusal to back a spending bill that includes money for his border-wall project, leading to the government shutdown.

Trumps political instincts are right on. Most of America, is in favor of a wall. Schummer and Pelosi voted for it, and it's pretty obvious they are only fighting not to give him a win. He asked for 5 billion which is a rounding error in the federal budget. Trump just signed a 990 billion farm support we don't ****ing need but has bi partisan support because the farm lobby pays them off.

The democrats don't give a rats ass about you or the Mexicans. It's about demographic change and wiping out the white middle class once and for all.

Well, safety and security are important, but it's not their #1 priority. Their #1 priority is to our rights and liberties, the free exercise thereof. And more to the point, there's no evidence that Trump's expensive ass wall is the best way to increase boarder security. So if safety and security are high priority, it would behoove us to examine what methods will produce the best results; it may not be some wall.

You say Trump's Wall is right for the nation? Compared to what? Show us the comparisons. Show us the comparative cost estimates.

Trump began talking about his Wall before he was elected? Before Trump was elected where did Trump get his information that justified his perceived need for a Wall? Where did he get the information that convinced him that a Wall was the answer - to a problem he has never been able to document?

Trump threatens to close the southern border to asylum seekers, and deploy armed troops. Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) reiterates the U.S. government’s legal obligation under the United Nations Refugee Convention, to conduct individualized screenings of migrants arriving at U.S. ports of entry, fleeing persecution in their countries of origin.

Refugee status was established in order to provide international protection for those with no other option – those whose governments are unable or unwilling to protect them at home. In countries where widespread violence and intimidation of citizens goes unchecked, and governments refuse to investigate or punish perpetrators, victims may have no choice but to flee.

Criminalizing the immigrants and militarizing the border is not the solution to border control. He's instigating a government shutdown for his wall, which is politicizing this crisis. This politicization of the border is putting lives in danger. We need asylum officers, child welfare professionals, we need medical professionals to go down to the border to deal with the facts of the situation. But the solution needs to be facts-based, the solution cannot be a continuing militarization of our border communities. Threatening to cut all aid to these countries will result in a crisis unlike any this country has witnessed to date. If conservatives really believe we have a 'crisis' now, they will be quite overwhelmed by the millions upon millions that will rush our borders.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Thursday found more people blame Trump for the shutdown than Democrats. In the poll, 33 percent blamed Democrats in Congress for the shutdown, compared to 47 percent who blamed Trump.

Another seven percent blamed Republicans in Congress, while 12 percent blamed “other.”

I suspect more flailing-around from him, as the heat of inaction builds. The best the Dems can do, is ignore him & allow him to one-sidedly continue his public spectacle. Then on Jan 3 start firing off bills to the Senate, putting the heat on the GOP, and tying the GOP to him if they don't pass the bills.
