Trump Seeks Tax Hike on Wealthy Earning $2.5 Million or More

There are already tax cuts for low earners in the plan as there has been since Trump's first term.

I always thought the richer your are the more benefits from society you get so your burden should be increased. A not very good example would be if you or me went to our local congressman and asked for road repairs to our neighborhood vs Elon Musk playing golf with a senator and explaining how a new road to his factory would benefit the entire area.

Well that's something you need to work on. Progressive taxation punishes success, and success is not something which should be punished.

It depends on how they earn their income. People who are genuinely productive - those creating value, innovating, or building businesses - already contribute enormously to society. If you really want to maximize societal benefit, don’t tax them - leave the money in their hands. It’s far more useful there than in the hands of some idiot politician who’ll blow it on nonsense. If you believe in efficient capital allocation, Mr. Superproductive beats a geriatric politician who can barely use email any day of the week, month, or year.

Because the government protects their property rights. Otherwise those stronger and meaner would take it away. That is why people should be taxed a percentage of their wealth.

It works both ways. Rich people can be sued and fined so they have to act responsibly. Poor people have nothing, they cannot be sued. Fining them is useless too. They can act anyway they want. The whole costly judicial system is to control the people who can't or won't act responsible.

That is why welfare is required or they would revolt. The rule of law, defense spending, infrastructure, etc., all benefit those with wealth in direct proportion to their wealth.

I would support a tax increase on that bracket.

Does the legislative process have to be explained to you?

Shoot he seems to believe in tariffs, but flip flops on that weekly.

And remember there’s a ban on Tik Tom (that he favored) that he’s not enforcing.

I’ll believe in a tax increase on the rich when he puts his gaudy signature on it.

Until then it’s all PR hype from our PT Barnum POTUS.

Do that and forgo the savage cuts to Medicaid and nutrition programs and this legislation won’t be so bad. But we know they won’t actually do that.

Trump is an opportunist. He sees just how bad his and the proposed GOP policies are. They're going over with the American people like a lead balloon.

A tax increase on the wealthy is what we've always wanted within reason. This has very little chance of going anywhere. GOP congress critters aren't going for this one. It's against their DNA.

He's not worried. Him and his family have made an estimated $2 billion dollars on Crypto and other various bribes and payoffs in just over 100 days. In violation of the emoluments clause and just about every other ethics norm that exists, the Trumps are making themselves ultra rich off the WH.

Trump has mastered the 'Art of Corruption' and is doing it out in the open with no effective resistance.
