No way can she negotiate unless the government is opened first.

Thanks for the kind words, but they're unnecessary. I'm struggling a bit with two broken ribs from an accident working out Tuesday morning, but otherwise my week's been great.

Mueller certainly didn't impact me at all - I'm more or less tuning out the Mueller stuff (except for entertainment on DP - it's fun to argue sometimes) until the investigation is over and the report complete.

You're pointing out why it's a mistake to negotiate with a hostage taker. Trump expects the Democrats to take a crap sandwich as their end of the deal, give Trump 100% of his ask, and the only reason they'd do it is to reopen government.

The right answer to this laughable offer is simply "No."

Most of them do not. I don't oppose border security, but I oppose dealing with Trump and giving in to his demand.

What's a bit stunning really is if he'd actually offered a deal that Democrats want, it might have worked to turn the pressure back on Democrats, but he didn't. A temporary reprieve on DACA isn't worth considering as the other side of his wall demand. It's borderline insulting. A huge majority (80% or so) of Americans support "DACA" including large majorities (73%) of REPUBLICANS so he's offering a partial, temporary fix for something that if he and the GOP killed would be hugely politically damaging. So if anything putting DACA on the back burner through 2020, but not giving them permanent legal status, is a political gift to the GOP. They can't kill it without losing support, but they don't want to fix it and anger the xenophobes and anti-immigrant wing of the GOP which is important in the primaries.

I didn't realize the polling was that lopsided in favor of DACA on the GOP side. It looks like the temporary nature is something McConnell cooked up to get the issue off the table for 2020, but not in a way that would anger the anti-immigrant base with AMNESTY!!!!

However this is at least in part and likely wholly because there is something wrong with the economy that the geniuses dont understand. Recoveries have been getting progressively worse, the next downturn is very likely to turn into a depression I say because the economy is sick and what is worse the people who run the economy have not the first damn clue as to the why.

You cant blame Obama for that, at least not completely.

The House passed a bill with wall money on December 21, the Senate needed 60 votes to pass it in the Senate and Democrats said no Democrats shut down the govt. not Republicans. Anyway this gives the Democrats 3 years to make the Dreamer issue go away with what the Democrats believe will be a Democratic President. Not so sure now are you?

that is called negotiations as he is pulling that issue back giving the Democrats 3 years to take over Congress, get a Democratic President, and providing permanent legal status for ILLEGAL Immigrants. What are you afraid of?

That is the worst kind of Monday Morning Quarterbacking. The slide into oblivion was stopped by Paulson, Bernanke and Geithner. But that left the economy locked in a dungeon when Obama took office with a no longer sliding but non-working financial system. Bernanke and Geithner named Obama's Treasury Sec, were the two guys that knew most about the effort to stop the slide and where we were left. They were the driving forces behind the stimulus packages that followed.

Its easy to Monday Morning Quarterback.

Trump stimulus??? initiated as if 2+% growth was a financial crisis that required stimulus. You have got to be kidding...particularly since we are going to head right back to between 2-3% growth in GDP now that the fire hose has been turned off.
