Trump lawyers ask judge to kill Democrats' bid to seize tax returns

And he has been out of office long enough that anything waiting would be indictable!

Trumps tx returns demands have always been politically motivitated.

Nevertheless. Had he released them at the beginning of the campaign, just as every other President in living memory has, people wouldn’t be asking what he is trying to hide.

And Biden’s new person has full access already!
Who is Biden's new person that you speak of that has full access to Trump's tax returns??

My memory is longer than yours. First was 1966. There is no requirement for tax return release, and at this late stage there is no possible reason. There is no exidence of any wrongdoing. Trump is now gone.

An opinion not based on fact. You want them because you can't have them.

if a tax crime was committed before or during his time in office that doesn't go away simply because he lost...and if they are looking at legislation based on their findings that certainly is a legitimate reason to have them.

the law says differently...
What law? There is no law requiring the release of returns, nor should their be. Age, residency, citizenship. That's it.

That's just it: If. Is there evidence that a crime was committed?

The US system of justice is not based on if. Or looking.

yeah, they didn't keep two sets of books or anything. that's not at all like the Mafia.

hell of a logical position you have staked out [/s]

if you had them you would not want to get them

it's no wonder you 'win' so many debates

he's just not a human that cares about laws.

never has. never will. he will steal from his own family.

The IRS would have prosecuted him already had the audit detected illegal actions!
false

that's like saying that every tax cheat that has ever cheated on their taxes has already been found out and busted.

So, you want evidence that a crime was committed before... looking for evidence that a crime was committed?

The other scandalous thing is that the "law and order" crowd doesn't want to increase IRS's ability to go after cheats.

they can provide it to the court, if a law has been broken and they can change laws based on their findings...that doesn't require the public having it.
So now we are going to pass laws in secret? Lawmakers will be expected to vote on bills without discussing or debating the merits of the bills? Or are you suggesting that the entire Congress be on the committees that will review those tax returns?

If I were smuggling illegal arms into the US, (disclaimer -of which I am not) and any law office/agency gets wind of this, would they not 'begin' to investigate my ass based on ifs or maybes to gather any and all possible facts and evidence before charging me when arrested? There's a lot of "ifs" that launches checking into and investigations by LEOs / detectives and prosecutors. imo

What law? There is no law requiring the release of returns, nor should their be. Age, residency, citizenship. That's it.

There is no law requiring public release . That is not what is at issue here. There IS a laws requiring them to be shared with the ways and means committee.

And those issues seem to be in doubt.

IMO it's a dangerous precedent for granting anyone access to returns for the sole purpose of going on a fishing expedition.

That's the way our system works.

In doubt by whom? The law is exceedingly clear as well as the history of the law..
