I do hope you and other Trump/GOP supporters stay (at DP). I certainly do not want to be in an echo chamber.

As to other boards, I would welcome the opportunity to present myself & my perspective in a MAGA environment. But I'm loathe to expand my social media footprint.

DP keeps me more than busy, and I like being able to segregate real life from online-line life.

Although semiconductors are exempt from the tariffs, Trump has previously discussed plans to target semiconductors with industry-specific tariffs on imports from all countries. He has yet to impose these tariffs, however. The White House on Saturday said potential tariffs on semiconductors are under review....

A stock and bond market stabilization. I thought that motivation was pretty self-evident because he needed to stop the bleeding from making him look any worse. Although Trump would say that he got several dozen countries to come to the table to meet the 90 day window of open negotiations. Time will tell if that pans out to be true and/or fruitful.

Regardless, Trump has always wanted to focus primarily on China and has never hidden that fact. He obsessively spoke about China dating back over 10 years now. All of the other countries are secondary to him.

I have no doubt that many countries voluntarily asked to negotiate. If they hadn't, Trump would still be publicly admonishing them. Instead, he's focused primarily on shit-talking China.

And I haven't made any comments as to his effectiveness or lack thereof--merely, I just stated what I believe his personal goals to be.

The thing is, if this bond sell off continues, China doesn’t have to do anything, they can just sit back, continue their part of the bleed and watch as it looks like there may be a move away from American assets.

We cannot know the future for sure, but Trump and those around him simply aren’t smart enough to understand the multitude of side effects their actions are causing and they WILL mishandle those.

Gonna be incredible to watch, America is shitting the bed in real time.

I considered mentioning that. China really doesnt have to do anything. Esp not directly in appeasement to the US.

They can ignore us. They can and do widen their markets and influence in other countries...undercutting US trade.

Of course Trump the Moron withdrew the U.S. from APEC simply out of spite against Obama.

APEC's purpose was to consolidate Asian nations into a coherent trading block.

China was already working to fill the void. This will help them immensely at our expense.

That’s exactly what they’re doing and saying.

They retaliated, 125% and stopped, that’s it, no more retaliation and they will simply ignore more provocation.

Their exposure to US Trade is greatly reduced to where it was 10 years ago, they have prepared for this eventuality and they have far more options to replace US trade than the US has to replace Chinese Trade.

I am not on Chinas side, I don’t trust them and I don’t want my countries, to become too entangled, but Trump is opening up this door wide and I would suggest nations be extremely weary of getting too deep with China.
