If the GOP fails to flip the Senate the turtle's pessimism added to the republicans giving up the only leverage they had to prevent the dems latest massive spending bill by signing onto the chip subsidy bill when they did will have done far more damage then he thinks Trump endorsed candidates will do. McConnell said what's true. All that babble in your post has nothing to do with the republicans losing the senate. It has to do with bad quality candidates. It also has to do with Trump's big mouth. Trump represents the stupid chunk of the GOP party - the one that, for example, opposes the ACA without any understanding of it, and wants it repealed - but literally have no alternative plans.

The point is Trump is an opportunist for the grift. If he thought (with his advisors) that he could have won the democratic nomination, he would have entered as a democrat. From the very beginning, Trump saw the gullibility of the conservative base. He said it hundreds of times. "I love the uneducated". I care that he went conservative and took stands and made promises that fell right in line with the party platform. And when elected, he largely followed through on them.
