Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting[W:985]***

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

I did the same. And worked myself up to $30/hr there in about 2.5 years. Started with an unpaid internship, while still finishing that degree. And that was the late 90's.

You made $30 per hour after finishing college in the late 1990's. Sorry, that doesn't happen today.

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

Lol, don't worry, our generation will have our revenge and we send the Boomers to nursing homes to be taken care of by a foreigner who speaks barely any English and laughs at your pain.

Gosh, what a compassionate thing to say for someone that flouts their religion in their signature

I'd rather have a hard working foreigner taking care of me than someone who is whiny and entitled and thinks he deserves a living because he is white.

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

Yup, I had to earn that internship, I worked at that company (an airline) for 14 years, didn't make much money, learned a lot and got good experience, then I took early retirement, and now I can fly free for life.

And they call Millennials entitled. I hope that you enjoy the social security that my generation is paying for.

High tech. Seattle. You dont know what you're talking about.

And I said it took me about 2.5 yrs.

It happens even more, for more, now.

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

"whataboutism" isn't an argument. Focus on the president today.

No thanks. I'd rather focus on you and what you are saying. I find you as insulting as he is.

We cannot toss history and the truth into a wastebasket for the convenience of people who speak as you do.

Since the conversation has shifted toward the concept of "chain immigration" being significant as an insult to African Americans, without diminishing the horrors of the African American slave experience in this nation, let's remind ourselves, they weren't the only enslaved people who suffered here. Native Americans, white indentured people from Britain and the rest of Europe, low wage immigrants whose wages were kept low because of institutionalized slavery, were all victims of slave brutality. On the other hand, no one, and I do mean no one, speaks of the African Americans who immigrated here purposefully with intent to build better lives for themselves. They account for 20% of African American ancestry. Their contributions remain neglected, and they were all educated and skilled peoples. Many came here to work the whaling, fishing and merchant shipping industries which helped make this nation great. Putting aside today's abhorrence, politically correct abhorrence of whaling, it is one of the industries that was inimical to the American success story. Keeping American nights lit with whale oil, allowing for intellectual growth regardless of political leanings. I find it insulting and bigoted that these people who were educated, often in Britain and France for generations, who came here to build a better future here are forgotten. Can you name even one of the 2 dozen lauded American authors and poets descended from the Dumas, pere et fils, the authors of the great French novels like the Three Musketeers, the Count of Monte Cristo, and so forth, who are alive today and writing? Their families came here to build an great American culture, from France, not Africa, but they are of African descent.

I'm grateful for Trump. He may be a vile, disgusting, vulgar, bigoted piece of human trash, but without him we would not be having many of the dialogs over concerns that have remained under the radar for far too long, encouraging prejudices from both sides of the political aisle, inclusive of the patronizing liberals who have done more damage than the Jim Crow enthusiasts. Please do tell all about the Anti-Chinese Associations of the American West, and the American East. You know, the Yellow Peril. How about the lynchings of Jews and Papists that took place just as the more easily targeted Black Americans? Do the names of Leo Frank, Joseph P. Macheca, Antonio Scaffidi, Antonio Marchesi, Katsu Goto, Look Young and Antonio Rodriguez mean to you?

Don't tell me what my focus should be. Let's talk about your hypocrisy and focus. And the same goes for every other big mouthed politically correct outraged BS artist claiming the moral high ground.

Do you have any statistics to back that up? Because this says that you're utterly wrong.

Yeah it does. My nephew graduated college and was hired for over 90K a year. My company regularly hires people out of college for 80K +.

Great for you! But your personal experience is not borne out by statistics.

Wow, you are so jealous about other people earning what they have, so much so that you don't spend any time trying to make your life better. With your attitude, you will never excel in life.

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

LOL I got that internship by going to a conference and to a social event in the hotel later. I knew who I wanted to talk to about a job, but couldnt get the courage up.

Fiinally, after drinking enough, I saw her leaving and I literally jumped into the elevator with her to ask! And I got it.

Flying free for life...nice!!!

Part of my job is analyzing salaries at my company and starting salaries for our out of college hires. You really have no idea what you are talking about, you have no first hand experience, just a bunch of whining.

For Seattle? I'm right. Just look at the job ads for Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Expedia...and all the myriad companies that provide services and IT work for them.

I got my internship after meeting with my counselor in college, he told me about the opportunity, I wanted to work in the airlines and I interviewed for the unpaid internship and got it, and managed to get hired on, even though there was a hiring freeze at the time.

Love your story, glad you were able to get your courage up!

You mean all of the companies that abuse the H1-B system to avoid hiring Americans? Those companies?

"Dutch Courage"...the alcohol definitely helped.

Have you ever had to apply to get a worker via a H1b visa? Or do you just make generalizations without actual hands-on knowledge?

Ha funny you should mention that. I spent 2 yrs at the Gates Foundation and that is a big concern for them, as they bring in scientists and researchers and other experts from all over the world. I had to work on some of the documentation for that.

THere are very specific criteria for that and I worked on both the messaging for the company regarding our position on that and also on the job descriptions for the positions so that they would be compliant with the criteria.

For their needs, there are not enough American experts, not even close. We were looking for the top people in the world in very specific disciplines in many cases.

How professional.

President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they floated restoring protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to two people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from ****hole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to African countries and Haiti. He then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries like Norway, whose prime minister he met yesterday.

The comments left lawmakers taken aback, according to people familiar with their reactions. Sens. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) and Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) proposed cutting the visa lottery program by 50 percent and then prioritizing countries already in the system, a White House official said.

Sooner or later, somebody is going to post how tired they are of my saying “This is nothing new. This is the way he’s been all along. We knew or should have known this before.”
Anyway, before Trump called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States, for the expulsion of all undocumented migrants, before he branded Mexicans as “rapists” and was accused of mocking the disabled and Haiti and Africans as coming from “****holes”, – Trump called for the reinstatement of the death penalty in New York following a horrific rape case in which five teenagers were wrongly convicted in 1989 of the rape and beating of 28-year-old investment banker Trisha Meili. Central Park 5 were all aged between 14-16 and claimed the NYPD coerced them into confessions.

Trump intervened. He signed full-page newspaper advertisements implicitly calling for the boys to die, resulted in greatly increased death threats against Yusef Salaam, with his name, address and phone number having been published. Yusef Salaam was 15 years old when Donald Trump demanded his execution for a crime he did not commit. DNA evidence and a confession by a serial rapist later cleared Antron McCray, Korey Wise, Kevin Richardson, Yusuf Salaam and Raymond Santana in 2002, after the five had spent as long as 13 years in prison.

“He was the fire starter,” Salaam said of Trump, in his first extended interview since Trump announced his run for the White House. “Common citizens were being manipulated and swayed into believing that we were guilty.”NYC agreed to a $40M settlement in 2014.

Trump called the settlement 'disgraceful' because they are 'no angels' and 'The heist of the century' and shows 'the stupidity of the justice system'
The following is a pretty good article on the subject.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...k-five-donald-trump-jogger-rape-case-new-york

To say that we shouldn’t take him seriously or read too much into what he says or that he’s just joking is absolutely nonsensical, as is Trump. This guy doesn’t know what he’s saying, what he means, what he said, what he’s going to say and neither do we. He rarely apologizes and when he does, he attacks somebody, like Hillary or Obama, both of whom he’s obsessed with and just can’t move on from. And, any action he directs has no practical relationship to his words. Whatever comes from him just happens to be where the pinwheel in his head stops.

BTW, Norway is a monarchy, with a market economy and a Nordic welfare model with universal health care and a comprehensive social security system. None of which Trump and his supporters want anything to do with. The country has the fourth-highest per capita income in the world and the highest Human Development Index. It also has the highest inequality-adjusted ranking (the US is 10th, tied with Canada). Norway ranks first on the World Happiness Report,[24] the OECD Better Life Index, the Index of Public Integrity, and the Democracy Index.

Trump wants Norwegians to emigrate to the US. Why would they? If any of them did, that’s when we would get the rapists and murderers. Wait a minute. Norway’s incarceration rate is 70 per 100,000 while the US is 693. Plus, murderers and rapists have better living conditions than our 14.5% living in poverty. I doubt that they would take an offer of commutation to move to the US.

LIBERALISM 101: If you stick your dick in another man's ****hole that's love and it beautiful, but if you call a ****hole country a ****hole country, well then you are evil and horrible.

The wonderful world of democrats.

But, okay, yes — Trump shouldn’t call them “****hole countries.” A little respect is in order. They are ****hole "nations".

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

Not a single person has denied that he said this. The furthest you'll get is two republicans claiming they "don't recall" the words used. The White House even didn't deny it. The only one denying it is Trump himself.

Was he wrong? Is Haiti not a ****hole?

Re: Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘****hole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

Was he wrong? Is Haiti not a ****hole?

So it's ok for your President to make racist statements in the Oval Office?

WAS MY BROTHER IN THE BATTLE- Kate & Anna McGarrigle You tube- Poem by Stephen Foster

Tell me, tell me, weary soldier from the rude and stirring wars,
Was my brother in the battle where you gained those noble scars?
He was ever brave and valiant, and I know he never fled.
Was his name among the wounded or numbered with the dead?

Was my brother in the battle when the flag of Erin came
To the rescue of our banner and protection of our fame,
While the fleet from off the waters poured out terror and dismay
Till the bold and erring foe fell like leaves on Autumn days?

"HAROOOOOH!"
