“We have 20 percent of the cases [in the world] because of the fact that we do much more testing. If we wouldn’t do testing, you wouldn’t have cases. You would have very few cases.”

Yeah, and just as long as you don't get tested for cancer, you won't get cancer. God this guy is so ****ing stupid. Specifically, either so stupid that he thinks people will literally not have COVID just so long as you don't test for COVID, or, he's so stupid that he thinks there is something to gain in having no idea how many people have it or where. There's no good, sane, logical explanation for a statement like he made.
There is an evil, sane, and logical reason though: if you are a wannabe dictator sociopath who could not be bribed to give a crap about how many of your people die, and wish to manipulate information so as to keep people stupidly in the dark and happy when they should be united against you.
That isn’t what he said. Trump suggested that the United States only appears to have a comparatively high percentage of global cases because the United States has a comparatively high rate of testing. And that could be true. Only Israel and Denmark have a higher per capita testing rate than the United States.

Only if you completely ignore the death toll...
That isn’t what he said. <>
Out of 215 countries, we have the 9th highest deaths per million in the world.
Out of 215 countries, we have the 9th highest deaths per million in the world.
For all their "America First" BS they really don't give a **** we're high on the bad list and low on the good list.
The US is also the third highest in per capita testing. So our death rate could mean a lot of things such as:
1) Deaths are more likely to be attributed to COVID in the US because of our higher per capita testing rate.
2) Americans are more likely to be symptomatic or otherwise succumb to this disease for a reason TBD.
With the 8 that are ahead of us being the advanced Western democracies, not the bottom of the list ****holes.Out of 215 countries, we have the 9th highest deaths per million in the world.
Neat. We have the 9th highest death rate in the world.

Is a direct quote in the article. He said those words. If you want to allege WaPo lied and Trump did not actually say those words, take it up with WaPo. Since it is what he said, that's where I stop in your post.
Which brings us away from the Trump-defending deflection and back to reality, where one of three things is true:
1. He is so stupid that he thinks people will literally not have COVID just so long as you don't test for COVID
2. He is so stupid that he thinks there is something to gain in having no idea how many people have it or where.
3. He is so evil that, as a sociopathic wannabe dictator who could not be bribed to care about how many people COVID kills, he wishes to manipulate information so as to keep his stupid-ass supporters cheering on low COVID numbers even as a mass graves fill up with untested COVID victims.
Seeing as he's on tape admitting deliberately downplaying the virus - not that we needed the admission to know that's what he was doing - we can safely go with #3. He's just so incompetent he didn't manage to suppress information about COVID entirely, so we know about our exceedingly high death rate and case load vs. the rest of the world, and we know about our nearly 200,000 dead.
There is simply no valid reason to lament having discovered lots of cases by testing, and wishing that we hadn't tested so he could say we had low numbers. None, all your spin aside.
If you hate America and like to see dead Americans, vote for four more years of that.
With the 8 that are ahead of us being the advanced Western democracies, not the bottom of the list ****holes.
This is how the leftists operate....They can't even succeed at making America #1 in deaths per million. They fail at everything, even failure.
And? It’s not a coincidence that the United States is also the fattest country in the world with all of the pre-existing conditions that implies which make a person more vulnerable to this disease.
Oh, cool, we have the ninth highest death rate from coronavirus and we're the fattest.
It just gets better and better.
Don't forget that fat and the virus are racist and secretly manipulated by the racists to land mostly on the black people.Substitute “and” with “because” and you may be on to something.

Right, and it's because we've never gotten through the first wave. In many countries the virus is controlled, and there's no need in September for mass testing. So, yeah, we're still testing at very high rates because we have a lot of cases, and then contact tracing, etc.
The US is also the third highest in per capita testing. So our death rate could mean a lot of things such as:
1) Deaths are more likely to be attributed to COVID in the US because of our higher per capita testing rate.
2) Americans are more likely to be symptomatic or otherwise succumb to this disease for a reason TBD but possibly related to the fact that the United States has a higher population of people with pre-existing conditions that are exacerbated by the disease.
How do you know that the prevalence of the disease is worse in the United States in comparison to countries which are not performing the same level of per capita testing? You don’t. “We have a lot of cases” because we have a lot of testing to detect those cases.
