Trump asks for amend COVID bill

I actually agree with this. The bill should definitely be vetoed, and they should separate out the omnibus spending and the covid relief. They should be 2 separate bills.

How would the veto help the people he wants to help, shutting down the government?

Make GOPs like Perdue and Loeffler accept the new Trump offer.

It was all Mitch's fault and he also says Biden won the election fair and square. He must not stay on as leader in the Senate if you care about Trump.

Perdue and Loeffler are betraying Trump by supporting Mitch's bill they cannot win in January. Mitch must be ousted as leader by all Trumpists in Georgia. :D

Yeah, it's confusing Trump (not hard to do):

But in a video posted online on Tuesday, Mr. Trump conflated the $900 billion relief package with the routine funding portion running along side it, declaring that the coronavirus rescue bill had been larded with provisions that had nothing to do with the pandemic, like foreign aid and federal fish hatcheries. Many of the items he objected to came straight from his own budget proposal. ​
 
Democrats are tripping all over themselves to deliver what Trump is demanding. Why are the Republicans dragging their feet? Don't they support Trump?

Democrats had included $1,200 direct payments — the original amount approved in March’s $2.2 trillion stimulus law — in their opening offers for another relief package. Within minutes of Mr. Trump’s public opposition to the bill, Ms. Pelosi declared her agreement with the president’s call for $2,000 checks, as did Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, and some of Congress’s most liberal members.

“We need to send a clean bill with just $2,000 survival checks and a separate spending/covid relief bill,” Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota and a frequent target of Mr. Trump’s ire, wrote Tuesday evening on Twitter, adding, “since Trump wants to sign a bill with survival checks, let’s send one to his desk right away.”​

However, the United States Supreme Court ultimately held that the Line Item Veto Act was unconstitutional because it gave the President the power to rescind a portion of a bill as opposed to an entire bill, as he is authorized to do by article I, section 7 of the Constitution.

From what I’ve seen of the votes, it’s veto proof so this may only be bluster from Trump to take some of the heat off his pardon list (or the pardons that are about to come) or is trying to stick it to McConnell for telling his folks not to fight the electoral college confirmation.

Numbers appear to be able to override a veto but the optics will not look good. Pelosi says we need $2000 each and if Trump endorses the senate will swing with Nancy for sure. Then it will look like the republican senate would rather give money to foreign nations and the academy of arts than the American people.

don't bet on grandma will push the 2k cheque bill out when Trump is still the POTUS. There are many interviews in MSM that $600 is better than $0 already. Grandma will show no mercy when she realizes that she can embarrass McConnell and Trump.
