Trump isn't. Some staff person somewhere made a decision. The article says, "Savannah (his wife) said she and her husband were told in April that his paperwork problem was with an application for removal of conditions on his residency – a form used by an immigrant married to a U.S. citizen."
Another article says that he "unknowingly missed a key immigration filing deadline in 2015."
Looks like the guy got caught up in a bureaucratic paperwork problem. I can't find out what the problem was. With millions of immigrants and thousands of bureaucrats, mistakes will happen.
 

It was no mistake. ICE was waiting for him. They never used to position themselves at immigration offices. Doing so just prevents people from getting their paperwork done, for fear of being snatched up and taken away.

Don't blame some staff person. They take their orders from above.

ICE has started stationing agents at immigration courts because people who come to those hearings have been through security and are known to be unarmed. ICE may have known he would be there (because he had an appointment) and that there was some problem with his records. The same "unarmed" fact is true when picking up illegal aliens who have just received an Order of Removal from the immigration Judge.

President Trump is probably not aware of everyone who is correcting his permanent resident status information. IF a mistake was made it was most likely not in the President's office. It may be that the only mistake was the one he made on his forms.

This guy didn't have a problem for 10 years, until a human reptile named Steven Miller decided he was going to screw with everyone in the immigration system.

No one "decided...to screw with everyone in the immigration system." The voters decided they wanted out immigration laws to be enforced. Neither you know I know why a decision was made to detain this man, although it certainly seems to have been unnecessary, and overkill. If what was done turns out to have been illegal, I certainly hope that he's able to get a sizeable settlement from the government.

But whether I wold have been screaming about it if it happened to me, we have to expect that the government - run by either party - is going to screw up from time to time when dealing with very large numbers of people. The best we can hope for is that the victim of their screw-ups isn't permanently injured and gets compensated for his trouble.

So let's take a father of five and put him in prison for a paperwork error. Yup, that makes sense to me!

Our system isn't working. If it were working, Trump would have been removed during his first term using the 25th Amendment or impeachment.

Now we have a president throwing Americans in secret prisons and shaking down news organizations for protection money, and you are oh, so fine with it.

I can't be fine with it. There are no "secret prisons" and CBS did something stupid, trying to affect the election. They should have lost their broadcast license.

Actually, that was a bogus argument. Especially since not even Jack Smith charged Trump with insurrection or anything like that.

Democrats keep hoping the system will "take care" of Trump and they keep coming up short, because they aren't willing to do the hard work to win back the people who have no common cause with Billionaires, but have been alienated by the Democrats in the last few decades.

Personally, I agree that someone should have invoked the 25th Amendment on Biden, probably long before that debate with Trump.

This doesn't mean we should all pretend that Trump doesn't have some serious cognitive issues.
