Is Congress in any way obligated to accept these funds and delegate them to this project? I can't imagine that they are. If so, Go Fund Me can raise funds to support all kinds of legislation Trumpeters might not like at all.
No. The way I understand it, Congress can take donations to the government, but it goes into a "General Government Fund," which they allocate to whomever they choose.

It was around $17M after 10 days, so that means only $1.5M has been raised in the last 5 days, which is rate of $300K/day - down from an avg of $1.7M/day
At this rate, it will take 3,272 days to raise the $1B, or nearly 10 years and that assumes the donations do not continue to fizzle out.
If one truly believes the Great Wall Of Trump to be "immoral" then strong objection, including threats of violence, to it is the expected reaction. That is the inherent down side of government officials (or the media?) using such dopey rhetoric - some nuts will take their words literally and act upon them. After all, we must fight official "immorality" by using any means necessary. It has yet to be explained (or even questioned by the media?) how a double row of fencing topped with razor wire is "moral" yet another form of physical barrier is "immoral".
