If a local community wants to use its resources to help that is their prerogative. They can elect mayors, council members and sheriffs who hold that position. It is the forcing part I take issue with.
I sincerely hope that if any of my family members are kidnapped and taken across state lines that someone who thinks like you do isn't making the decision on whether to support the feds or not.
What part of "forced" do you not understand? I still believe communities are free to use their law enforcement resources to enforce federal laws voluntarily. I can't imagine a single jurisdiction not chipping in to help on a kid napping.
Cities shouldn't be forced to help ICE catch illegal immigrants. But they can if they want.
Cities shouldn't be forced to help the DEA enforce federal anti-marijuana laws. But they can if they want.
Cities shouldn't be forced to help enforce federal magazine size restrictions. But they can if they want.
Cities shouldn't be forced to help the IRS apprehend federal income tax evaders. But they can if they want.
Cities shouldn't be forced to help the US Postal Inspector investigate mail fraud. But they can if they want.
And it goes both way. The Feds have no obligation to help local authorities enforce their speed limits, property taxes, zoning laws or any other local laws and codes.
And again. It doesn't mean I think they should be prohibited from doing so. It means I think they shouldn't be forced to do so.
And how long does a background check take? just admit you don't care about inconveniencing brown skinned people like the fascist you are.
Ah yes the smell of fascism against brown people. I bet all the white people will be asked to "show their papers" at traffic stops.
I'm ok with checking status if you are detained for an actual crime or arrested but for traffic stops that is simply stupid.

fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist, fascist...oh my...this is fun!
No, no our part is "commie, commie, commie, commie, commie chameleon."

Just doesn't have the same ring to it and it's not hip. All the kool kids are all about the antifa these days and being an antifa is a lot easier if I label everyone I don't agree with a fascist.

Is it that simple? How long does it take for ICE to pick someone up? Let's say a city cop briefly detains someone for questioning because they match a description of someone who just robbed a house. During questioning the officer learns the detainee is a foreigner without a valid visa. Another squad car brings the witness by who says the detainee is not the person they saw robbing the house.
Normally the officer would let the person go on their way and get back to looking for the robber. But, potentially, under this new law the officer will have to stop searching, arrest the illegal immigrant, and then his local police department will have to house, feed and guard him until ICE shows up to take custody. Is that minutes? Hours? Days? I don't know. But it does matter.
So they are going to after local officials and cops, but of course not the businesses and employers in Texas that hire illegals?
Why am I not surprised.

dont see anything that specifies just the driver so that would mean the whole car can be checked.
Just FYI, not everybody entering the United States illegally even from south of the border is a "brown person."
And the key word here isn't "brown"; it's "illegally."
The last time a cop asked for my license and I did not have it the background check took less than a minute. I eventually found the license in my wallet but by then he already had the information.
You can go to jail for riding in a car while intoxicated in some states. I picked up a friend at a club at around 2:00 AM proceeded to take him home and got pulled over for DUI. After the cop determined I was sober my drunken friend was removed from the vehicle and taken to jail. I was informed that you cannot even be a passenger in a car drunk. It held up in court in Texas. So keep that in mind nest time you get drunk.
For traffic stops who do you think is going to be picked for background checks a white person or brown skinned person? Be honest
The bill addresses a specific issue. The employers of illegals are already breaking the law.

I forgot my license once on a stop and it took 25 min. Now that doesn't seam like a lot but imagine that happening multiple times and happening when you can't afford it. If you are brown skinned should you have to plan an extra 25 min on your daily commute because your friend in the car forgot his wallet? Should you have to ask all your passengers if they "have their papers in order"?

That makes no sense, what makes you any different than a taxi in that regard? Are people required to stay drunk in a bar cause you can't drive them home? Seriously I'm curious what is the logic with that especially with designated driver ads flowing through?
