Most of the New York City subway system was back in service by this evening’s rush hour after a fierce morning storm disrupted transit service throughout much of the region and unleashed a rare and destructive tornado that whipped southwestern Brooklyn with winds of up to 135 miles an hour.
The storm dropped about 3 inches of rain on the New York metropolitan area in about an hour, flooding major thoroughfares, cutting off power to thousands of homes and causing confusion that lingered through a humid, sweaty day.
The tornado set off by the storm raged through Sunset Park and Bay Ridge, ripping the roofs off five brick rowhouses, yanking thick trees out by their roots, turning cars sideways and shattering countless windows.

.... Seriously, tornado in Brooklyn?

God did it. Not the Christian one. Not the Muslim one. Not the Jewish one. "HE" did it. Seriously...when will people realize that it's not normal for the weather to be as ****ed as it.

I see we have a vote for Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli

that makes two.

good thing, because I don't know how to pronounce that, either.

Well since the people who made up that name are long gone. However you pronounced it is fine.

I usually just tell people it's the name I dare not speak.

Just look what happened to those poor people on their way to the Brooklyn symposium on Aztec mythology.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli that hit Brooklyn. Too many Puerto Ricans there. It was probably a Taino/Arawak God.

Boinayel gets a little testy at times.

Especially after Márohu steals his girlfriends.

Great way to clean up NYC, though.

Seriously, this is pretty unheard of for this area.

I can pronounce it. I am good at that. Quite a few years ago, I made a 5 dollar bet with a coworker from southern India that I could pronounce his name. I won the bet. His name was Kitathumathaladeli. His badge just said Kit. LOL.

This isn't the first time a tornado appeared where tornadoes have no business appearing. England has gotten a couple tornadoes itself this summer, and the U.K. is as much Tornado Alley as New York is.

I don't see how the frequency of bizarre weather events can be ignored or explained away with spin for much longer.

Speaking of ignoring bizarre events, we never did hear about that whole bees dying off thing again. Whatever happened to that? Did they stop dying or did the media decide it was just way too depressing to continue reporting?

I think they said there was a tornado in that area back in 1995. So although rare, its not unheard of.

I suppose there will be knee-jerk global warming enthusiasts claiming this as a sure sign. Whatever

The sky is falling the sky is falling!!!!

Even Rocky had a montage

Well, I think its because they have a vested interest in the end of the world, they want the rapture, and will see that as the silver lining in all climate problems as long as they confirm their now self-fulfilling prophecies.

Whichever the reason it's fracking odd as hell that a tornado touches down in Brooklyn

Odd, yes.

Unusual? Historically, I don't think so, at least in regards to it happening every so often.

BTW: What DID happen to the honeybee population news story?

The news story? Forgotten.
AS for the honeybee population - it's still very problematic and quite serious.

Damn a tornado hit Brooklyn, why does Bush keep doing this, he must be seeding the clouds to cause storms to hit neigborhoods were democrates live. It has to be Bush's fault. There is no other explanation.

This is the second time you have stated he is at fault for causing a natural disaster. What evidence do you have that Bush can control the weather?
