You misunderstood my post. This is a difficult issue. I am certainly not in favor of terminating the life of a viable healthy fetus (some fetuses have medical conditions that are known before birth that are either not compatible with life or not compatible with anything like a normal life). Thats where I PERSONALLY draw the line, recognizing that there is room for compromise. I have been in the delivery room and responsible for the care of premature babies and I don't think I could withhold care from a viable healthy baby (which is roughly 23 weeks or so of gestation). Of course abortions do not take place in the DR. I understand that. Still, the thought of withholding care from a viable baby is so distasteful to me that I could not support abortions after 23 weeks. Thats more than enough time for a mother to make her decision. Unfortunately too many conservatives want to eliminate abortions under any circumstances or place absurd restrictions on a mother's right to choose. There has to be a middle ground.
