To the liberal resistance to Trumps onslaught of insanity

If I am lucky I may have ten years left

I think you're too pessimistic, here. We're not our fathers' or grandfathers' generations.

and I intend to live those ten years being as happy as I can with the little things.
Our daughter will be a fairly well off person when we go, so we don't have to worry about her, and we're going to do okay financially.
All my efforts paid off with a big fat nothing, the American experiment with a republican constitution and representative democracy has failed, fallen victim to multi-billion dollar propaganda with no small amount of help from hostile foreign actors.

We will not see the like of this experiment again in our lifetimes, certainly not mine.
So I will live out my life trying to find joy in the smaller things, like keeping my wife happy in her remaining days.
The world can go **** itself for all I care.
If this current generation wants its democracy back they are going to have to fight hard for it.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Intellectually, I see the prospect. You're very good at the big picture - always were since your first days here. I get what you're saying.

But, I'm not quite so pessimistic. Yes, some genies have been released - never to return to their bottles. But, pendulums do swing.

what if local communities and states refuse federal funding and showed the feds we dont need them by kicking them out??
I'd bet a whole lot of money that red states would never refuse federal funding, since they would be in one heck of a financial hole. It's the blue states that could refuse and also refuse to subsidize those red states and not feel the pinch.

It took me 4 years to shake by head clear of Voter stupidity in 2016..........................give me 3 months this time.............it was never trump, but rather the deplorable, gullible, morons who support anyone remotely like him.......
His supporters may not personally be racist, sexist, elitist criminals...but they are okay with them.

Why is that? It is those voters that gave us Trump. He is nothing without them.

Like I said, Trump is not the problem. Our fellow Americans, are. Essentially, we - you & I - are now the minority. Our fellow Americans reject us & our ideologies & policies. Or at the least, they reject the political party that most embodies our ideologies & policies.

Thank you. Ditto!

We can't do this ourselves. It must be done within the context of a major political party. We need to strengthen the Democratic Party to better carry America's more Centrist mainstream electorate, or at least carry enough of the mainstream electorate to combine with the Left for an electoral plurality.

This is difficult, as I left the Dem Party on two occasions over my life, with the last & most recent being due to strong intolerance I received from some Dems in real-life encounters towards my more Centrist ideas, even while I also carried a great many Liberal ideas in concert with them.

The Dem Party has to become the Big-Tent party again, accepting more diversity in the political spectrum - like they used to. Especially, Populism. Populism might be most important. They had it in the sixties. In the eighties, Reagan stole some Reagan Dems from them. Clinton got quite a few back in the 90's. Then Dems ceded them to Trump in 2016, and despite Biden's 2020 win - continued to cede them until the finale earlier this month!

Populism wins in America. Always. It's in our genes.

My friend, as usual you get it.

I would love to see the Left shift back to the common sense liberalism during the Clinton era. I have no idea why they've steered so far away from that but they have definately lost their way and need to find it again.

Calling half the country supporters of "racist, sexist and elitist criminals" is a sure fire way to turn things around rather than a shift in policy.

I didn't call them that, I said they were okay with that. Tell me how those that voted for him are not okay with a racist, sexist, elitist pos?

zero proof of your suckoff comment.......... She and Brown did not hide their relationship. He was separated for more than a decade before this. Compared to trump this is a nothing burger.

She followed the law and did her job.............opposite of Trump

that was her job

her job as pros.

her job-----

??? where you born yesterday??? It is disingenuous to compare her to trump.......................I can't believe you are serious

You seem awfully supportive of the Democrat nominee even though you keep insisting to everyone here you're a Republican.

It's one thing to not support the candidate of your own party because of philosophical differences but it's another thing entirely when you stick your head up the ass of your professed political opponent.

This article about the climate movement can also be relevant for the greater movement against authoritarian leaders like Trump. That you need places like Bluesky for both building movements, having fun and have serious discussion.

"It may sound cheesy, but it’s just been nice to be able to exist in a place online where it’s possible to have interesting conversations about small and big stuff, to get tips about research and recipes, restaurants and climate texts. And not gradually relax from constantly being on edge. To be reminded that engagement and motivation is also about strengthening ties with your allies and to mix reading and talking about heavy issues, with the laughter and lightness of shitposting."

It is amazing to me that you can have such contempt for people and then be surprised that people you constantly voice contempt for, don't support your politically.

It's fatigue. Trump fatigue. Maga fatigue.
Disinformation fatigue. Alternate fact (gas lighting) fatigue.
When life gives you lemons, you drag life out behind the barn and stomp the shit out of it. "I DON'T NEED YOUR STUPID LEMONS. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH LEMONS? OH, WAIT, I KNOW WHERE TO PUT THESE LEMONS!"

You are putting the cart before the horse.

People aren't bad because they vote for Trump, they vote for Trump because they are bad people to begin with.

You are ignoring the entire point I just made.

You hate us. Yet you whine when we don't support your politically.

There is no whining. I never once expected you to support us politically.

The only question was whether more of you voted, or more of us voted. More of you voted, so you won.

I not only don't - and never have - expected You People to support us, I don't want you to support us. If you did support us, I would have to reexamine my values, because there would obviously be something very wrong.

mrjurrs was making that point. I was responding to him making that point.

For you to jump in and then play confused because you didn't make that point, is not useful in any way.

Republican and Trumper are two vastly different things .......

I never voter party--only for the highest/best quality person. Hard to believe voters do otherwise

The way you've been leg humping Kamala Harris these past 2 years might lead some to believe you're full of shit when you keep saying you're a republican. After all, a Republican could very well have a great distaste for Trump but there's about a zero percent chance a real republican would slobber all over Harris just because they hate their sides current nominee.

No worries. I'll just keep pointing it out for everyone to see.

You All need to do something quick. Come Jan 20th, the trucks will be rounding you up and taking you to the reeducation camps.

From the sounds of it some of our more stubborn liberal friends will be spending some extra time there until they fully embrace MAGA.

That's my cue!

Nobody is whining at you because of your vote, or your support.

We're sneering. That's different.

There were no republicans to support, except those who still had an once of integrity left and resisted trump. Sorry. I would love to support republicans, but where are they??

Never slovbbered, just logical, rational opinions........and truthful.
