To the liberal resistance to Trumps onslaught of insanity

It's going to take s lot longer than that. Trump is old and will be gone soon, but the people you deplore aren't going anywhere
True----but my awareness of their unpatriotic, irresponsible, moronic deplorability is increasing with time, and my expectations of these voting ingrates is lowering as the ages march on.........................psychological adaptation to other's poor decision-making is possible.............

Not sure about that. When Trump is gone who is the deplorable Republican in politics that has as much charisma and can continue the cult? MTG? Lauren Bohbert? Tommy Tuberville? Ted Cruz? Ron DeSantis? I think not. Trump has a skill that none of the rest of them have and since it is innate it will die with him.

a skill that roughly 50% of voters fall for................history will not be kind to that lower half.........

What distinguished Trump's rise and set him apart was he purposely refused to go along with every political nicety held up as an acceptable standard. He wasn't going along to get along. That made him the ultimate outsider.

Then, for a large number of people who saw themselves powerless and neglected by the power elite, they saw someone who at least spoke the words of defiance and change. Need a cultural icon to frame it? Howard Beale from the movie Network, "I'm mad as hell and not going to take it anymore!"

Voila, we got ourselves an illiberal populist at the helm of government.

And after Trump comes who? Not a knock off. That's for certain. If this election is a kind of rebalancing, then the next generation stepping up will, hopefully, tread a more middle way flexible enough to at least form a consensus from among the needs of the electorate. We'll just have to wait to see what comes.

Not illiberal, but also the farthest thing from a populist. I will agree with that being how he is viewed by a portion of the population.

Completely agree with the rest of your comments.

Any normal, moderate, non-woke democrat would have likely beaten Trump. Instead you ran a vile, authoritarian, far-left, empty-headed idiot.
?????? Get real. In a rational world, Any of the 40 known species of slugs on this Earth were better than Trump. There is no excuse for voters putting that garbage in the WH. NONE.

Harris was well qualified by all historical standards of the last 46 presidents.

I am only talking about apathy (which is understandable) which I see...It seems people (who have morals) have been beaten down by this wave of crazy...)

I just don't want people to give up
I don’t think the word “apathy” quite captures the mood. It’s more like “exhaustion”.

We live in the age of Trump. I feel like one of those characters in an episode of The Twilight Zone- stuck in a nightmare world, where things that once seemed so familiar are now totally bizarre and alien, and not at all what I had thought they were (and that includes family members)- and I’m not able to escape from it or wake up from it no matter how hard I try.

“Madness is something rare in individuals- but in groups, parties, peoples, and ages, it is the rule.”
-Friedrich Nietzsche

How, materially, did you life improve?

Government, in general, makes all of us poorer and worse off, that's why it has to resort to extortion in order to fund itself. Harris is a California Democrat, which means she would try to turn the US into what California has become, i.e. a progressive shithole which productive people are fleeing from in droves.

1) When she was in her 20s, she sucked off a 60 year old Willie Brown in order to get two political appointments.

2) As a prosecutor, she ruined the lives of marijuana users, then admitted she smoked weed herself and laughed about it.

3) As AG, she fought to keep people in prison who should have been released.

4) As AG, she fought to keep an innocent man in prison, using a paperwork argument.

5) She put a woman in jail, because her chronically ill daughter missed some school.

Nothing Trump has done even comes close to this. Kamala Harris is a despicable, evil, authoritarian skank.

zero proof of your suckoff comment.......... She and Brown did not hide their relationship. He was separated for more than a decade before this. Compared to trump this is a nothing burger.

She followed the law and did her job.............opposite of Trump
that was her job
her job as pros.
her job-----

??? where you born yesterday??? It is disingenuous to compare her to trump.......................I can't believe you are serious

I agree with the idea that populism wins...

We on thre left just seem to **** up when it comes to telling people what we are for...

In terms of the Dem Party, they absolutely message terribly - when they message at all!

Trump beat them in messaging, hands down.

You are a good guy and I try to be.

I think we, as the left need more thoroughness and less complacency...

what is your view?

We need less complacency, sure, but also more toughness and pragmatic reality.

For example: The middle of the country may have been fine in accepting LGBQ & gay marriage, but they didn't want biological men running over their daughters on H.S. athletic fields and being naked in their daughters' locker-rooms & showers.

Another example: The middle of the country may not want door-to-door deportation round-ups, but they absolutely want a secure border and secure lawful legal migration.

Dems fell way short on the above positions.

We've got to be pragmatic. That means acquiring the Center & Center-Left, where once in office we can give the further-Left a bit of a ride-along. Liberalism is good. But the country is best governed (& attained) through the middle.

The first rule of governance is to obtain a position which allows one to govern. Without that, all is for natch.

Would you have traded a bit more Centrism in order to have attained the White House? Because that Centrism would be mild compared to what Trump is going to unleash upon us!

MAGA is here to stay. Why? It worked! You can't argue with success.

Given a good term performance, I think Vance might carry the MAGA banner.

Let's keep one thing in mind:

"Trump needn't be a populist"

He simply needs to appear to be a populist to a plurality of the voting electorate, which he indeed has.

Any normal, moderate, non-woke democrat would have likely beaten Trump. Instead you ran a vile, authoritarian, far-left, empty-headed idiot.

Oh, but the above, all true, doesn't go with their newest narrative that this is all Trump's fault. Liberals. :ROFLMAO:

Exactly.

It is exhaustion and - of sorts - resignation. We see the majority of the voting electorate has bought into MAGA. So it becomes, "What do we do now? The majority wants this!"

MAGA is here to stay. Why? It worked! You can't argue with success.
Are you saying you only started deploring the opposition when MAGA became a thing?

They were the same people before that time too.

I have seen a muffled response to this lunatic taking office soon...

Where is the political muster to oppose his agenda of turning America back to 1959 (or 1859)

I hope my liberal friends show some backbone (I know how awful it is to have to go through Trump 2.0

Accepting this attempted reversal to 1959 is no good option...

Political opposition is seminal.

It is imperative to resist the rise of horror
Not me. I think it’s clear that Americans need to learn a harsh lesson that elections have consequences. Over a million Americans dying of COVID clearly wasn’t a strong enough lesson, so now we’re going to have to put them through something much worse by letting them experience Donald Trump with no guardrails.

Yes, we deplored the Swift Boaters and Birthers as well.

Were you either, by any chance? I imagine you were the latter at a minimum; you don’t seem like the sort with the strength to cross pre-2016 Donald Trump.

Gear up for the midterms 2026

Take both Houses

It's the best way to partially neuter Trump

I shall resist the regressives.

We cannot go back.

We must go forward.

The future is our destiny.

Progress is good. We must have progress.

Progressives are visionary.
