To preserve internet speeds for telecommuting, should porn by banned?

I am experiencing very slow internet speed right now, and it’s frustrating me, so I got to thinking, since Internet pornography is non-essential and takes a lot of bandwidth, should it be outlawed by emergency declaration?

This is actually pretty easy to implement, ISPs can be ordered to stop allowing certain websites to be accessed.

Viewing streaming pornography could then be a misdemeanor and viewers arrested.

Thus allowing faster internet for everyone else

Lower resolution videos would help. Instead of 4K everyone will watch in 480p.

While I think the idea is idiotic and raises all sort of concern regarding freedoms. I would be very interested to understand the effect on society if this were to happen.
 
You know what's really non-essential, and takes up 56 inches of bandwidth? Trump's daily briefs.
 

Absolutely, we should give the government full authority to dictate what we can and can't see online. This is definitely a brilliant idea and not a slippery slope in any way.
 

How do you know it's porn that is causing the slowdown? Personal experience?

Seriously the the internet companies habitually oversell their networks and that's why when everyone uses it at the same time it gets all wonky. Blame your ISP for not building their network out properly.

That proposal makes more sense. Have the streaming video providers broadcast in standard definition during business hours.

We have a word for that in the US. We call it "censorship." If it was by government order, then it would also be a deliberate violation of the First Amendment.
 

Get off the phone company ISP.
Then you won't get slow internet.

Or pay for the higher speed. Let capitalism work.
 
Old people are the cause of this whole problem, right? So, I say we ban them from the internet. As part of a stimulus package, we'll send every old person a TV antenna, a folding table for one and a stack of TV dinners. That'll hold 'em for a couple months.
 

I don't see the logic behind banning pornography as opposed to any other variety of "unnecessary" streaming service. One might just as easily argue that YouTube or Netflix should be banned.

A global reduction in video streaming quality would make much more sense.

A VPN will defeat that ban.
 

If your internet connection is so slow, then consider closing all of your open tabs with porn on them.

Absolutely, internet pornography should be outlawed and banned, just like child pornography, for the health of the entire world.
