TLC Virgin Couples (1 Viewer)

Within a year, they'll be divorcing, or one will be arrested for some sex crime, or shooting up a restaurant in a drunken rampage or something really trashy and reality TVish like that.

haha... giving them a reality show based on their relationship would be ****ing funny. I can't image them together on a daily basis, and what their mating ritual must have evolved into... perhaps nightly games of this little piggy went to, and then showing working their way up each others legs, perhaps playing a little bit of truth and dare? I dare you stick (something in the room) in my butt. :lamo :lamo

Hey, awesome idea! Terrifying, but awesome.

So I watched the episode and all i can say is WOW! I don't think it's strange they waited till their wedding day, but it's obvious that there is a mental deficiency by the way they acted. She actually appeared to be more sexually agressive and excited, and he seemed like he could care less. They looked like they were having a seizure when they kissed, and what was up with their eyes while kissing? She said their first time was painful and that she didn't know it was going to hurt. I thought that it would be common knowledge that pain is a factor the first time. I agree with the others. I hope they can find some normal acting virgins for the next episodes!

The last thing a reality show wants is normal acting people.

She didn't know it was going to hurt? Christ on a stick. I'm not female, but hey ladies, isn't this the sort of thing your mom warns you about at some point in your life? Even if you haven't heard from friends, or had a decent sex-ed class or something?

I wonder how they even knew how to do it. What goes where?

Yeah. I hate to say it, but it really does seem like common knowledge is lost on them in a lot of ways... And yes, any girl should know or heard that it can hurt the first time. It kind of makes me think that her own mom didn't talk to much about sex, and she was raised abstinence only. How can a girl be so clueless about her own body and something so natural and common? And I could definitely see her husband being way too aggressive their first time, much like he was with the kiss, and that would cause a lot of unnecessary discomfort. As others are saying, if they don't figure this kind of stuff out... they are NEVER going to enjoy sex or have a happy, fulfilling sexual relationship.

It doesn't hurt for everyone, but it's still common knowledge... it's also common knowledge that rough sex would definitely hurt, which I wouldn't be surprised if her husband was rough on top of it. His kiss was even rough. I can just picture the guy being rough and uncoordinated, accidentally pulling her hair and all kinds of ****.

Not to get to graphic, but he probably doesn't know to start slow before shoving himself into her. I would imagine he's also not knowledgeable about pre-heating the oven, if you know what I'm saying. All of that would obviously increase her discomfort.

Watching porn... that's how I learned... lol

This is an interesting side-topic. What kind of sex ed did people (who have been posting on this thread) have? I spend most of my primary and secondary education at a prep school, and they were pretty blunt and open about sexuality. We got fairly comprehensive coverage of the issue starting in (I think) the sixth grade. My understanding is that that's a lot less true in most public schools. Was that the case for you?

Yeah, but he's innocent and all that... What the hell does being innocent and virginal mean once he is no longer a virgin, but lacks the coordination to be more sensitive to his wife's needs during sex? I feel sorry for the girl.

Yeah. Being innocent once the virginity is gone pretty much just makes you a ****ty lover. Speaking as a guy, this is also a two way street. I doubt she'll be going down on him any time soon.

I don't really remember. We had some in elementary school, but it was mostly about going through puberty and where babies come from... I remember one girl was in a very religious family and during the discussion of birth control, she raised her hand and asked, "if sex is for having babies, then why would you want to have sex if you don't want to have babies?" I don't remember what grade I was in, but I think it was like 5th or 4th, and I was damn, this girl is clueless.

I also remember some of the girls in my class were very knowledgeable about birth control at that time and age, which was really surprising to me. I can't image what it was like for teachers, since we were actually very young kids at the time. It's kind of sad in a way, how fast children grow up. Kids start puberty really young IMO, and a lot of them are just babies still and just in 3rd grade.

Your review makes me want to watch the show... I also wonder what the other couples will be like.. lol

[h=1]'Virgin Diaries' react: Most uncomfortable TV hour ever?[/h]

Your tolerance for secondhand embarrassment was put to the test last night by the premiere of TLC’s The Virgin Diaries. The much-hyped show definitely had its share of gross-out moments (that wedding kiss wasn’t any less gross in the episode than it was in the trailer), but mostly, it was just incredibly, incredibly uncomfortable.[/FONT]

This documentary-style confessional had all the makings of a TLC exploitation. From the trailers, it seemed the show would be focusing on couples (like Ryan and Shanna, pictured) who were making a choice to abstain from sex — and kissing — until they were married.

In actuality, everyone else on the show was not a virgin entirely by choice — which made the laughing and judging that everyone seemed so eager to do seem much more mean-spirited.

There was no shortage of shots that made me cringe. Here are six squirm-inducing moments I’m going to have trouble getting out of my head

1.) That Kiss. I may have known it was coming, but that doesn’t change the fact that Shanna and Ryan’s kiss was one of the most disgusting, over-the-top displays of affection I’d ever seen. Unlike the other featured people tonight, Shanna and Ryan seemed completely delusional. From a TV standpoint, they were awesome, seemingly created by some reality-show robot that didn’t give them an ounce of self-awareness. (The same robot created Snooki.) I hope they were doing all the kissing as a reality-show gag, but I somehow doubt it.

2.) Even more disturbing than their multiple Mouth Attack Zone kisses (seriously, once those two started mouth-to-mouth contact, they didn’t stop), though, was Ryan’s relative indifference for most of the episode. Shanna seemed psyched to finally have her wedding night, chatting with her friends about crotchless panties, etc. (Side note: ugh.) Ryan just seemed like he was looking for a way to put off “having intercourse” and “doing foreplay” for as long as he could

3.) Shanna’s father gave Joe Simpson a run for his money in the Creepy Dad department. The way he confessed to the cameras that he would love to be a fly on the wall for her wedding night had me and my roommate both doing a double-take.

4.) Another featured player, Carey, is a 35-year-old virgin not entirely by choice. He is essentially the real-life version of Steve Carell’s character in The 40 Year Old Virgin, minus the happily ever after. He confessed that he has a date this week that will be his first in seven or eight months. Before that, he hadn’t been on a date in seven years. Bru-tahl.

5.) There were also the three female virgin roommates. Well, two of the three were virgins. One was a “born-again” who had previously had sex with past boyfriends. A.k.a., much like Bristol Palin, not a virgin.

6.) I’m going to give the participants the benefit of the doubt and assume TLC told them to bring up their virgin status right away on their dates. Both Lisa (one of the roommates) and Carey immediately told their dates they were virgins, and understandably, the dates were more than a little weirded out. Too much too soon. Later on the episode, Lisa and her roommates went on a triple date with three guys who were — surprise! — also virgins. What was the message there? Only other virgins are going to be cool with this?

What's up with the groom? He doesn't look too excited and has huge circles under his eyes. He looks like a zombie on Night of the Living Dead.

My parents didn't have me go to the sex class in 5th grade, I think it was. I sat in the library and read.
